Another of my medical rants
Comments (33)I'll tell you my terrible experience with Versed. After being induced and laboring for 2 days it was decided to do a c-section. It was the worst thing in the world. The Versed, knocked me out, but I was awake and couldn't tell them. I felt the complete c-section from beginning to end. In my mind I was telling them how much it hurt and to stop and do something, but my husband and Doctor and nurses all said that I didn't say anything during the surgery. Afterwards they told me that I was dreaming it and that I couldn't have felt anything. When I met with the Anisthesiolgost before my second c-section they told me that The Versed probably knocked out my communication skills and made it so that I couldn't communicate. I was so freaked out about having a 2nd c-section that I told my husband if I started blinking my eyes that I could feel what they were doing. Well I didn't feel anything but when They did the spinal for the c-section they did it too high and it affected my diaphram. I was having a hard time breathing, and the only thing that they could give me was Versed, I refused and told them instead just to sit by my head and remind me to breath. I am glad someone posted this and that I am not the only one with a reaction. When ever they ask about allergies, Versed is first on my list. Comments (55)What about when its too late to not get a pet? I have one and he was recently diagnosed with epilepsy, this was after $3000 worth of test and that was our last bit of money. now he's getting bad seizures and we had to do emergency vet care that we knew we couldn't afford and we are now another $600 in the hole and this is just the beginning. we can't afford this. We love our dog and are broken up over this and we don't know what to do. we are worried we won't be able to find someone to take him from us that can care for him properly and we know that we can no longer care for him properly. So far we can't find anyone to take him and if we keep him that means when he has more problems or more seizures since the medicine doesn't completely keep them from happening it just controls them to make them less severe, so when he does have them we can't afford to take him in to the hospital when he has more than 4 in a day (he has cluster seizures). We are very torn as to what to do, it seems as though euthanizing him may an option because what kind of life is that if he needs medical attention we can't give him because we don't have the money....See MoreThe high cost of medical care
Comments (262)And I pointed out that the government was stupid to bail out failed businesses, and that subsidization of failure is a big part of what is wrong with big government. I'm not sure why or how the topic of why the bank failure came up, when it has virtually nothing to do with healthcare... but either way, I don't want to have the argument and I should not have started to get into the argument. I did not mean to be disingenuous, I'm sorry if you see it that way. I also was not trying to accuse you of trying to drag me into an argument. I was simply trying to say that I was not going to have an argument about the cause of the crash at this point. I'm sorry if it came across that I was trying to accuse you of anything. I disagree with your assertion that the argument is a false, racist and classist argument. But you can and will continue to believe that, no matter what I post to refute it....See MoreTell me about medical alert bracelets
Comments (27)As part of my job, I teach and provide medical oversight for more than 1,500 EMT & Paramedics. Especially if someone is confused or unconscious, they will check for medic alert tags. However, EMT & Paramedics are not likely to take the time to call a special number. @ jmck, if someone is truly allergic to aspirin (not just some "upset stomach"), they should not be given it during a "heart attack." Jewelry is often banned in sports because it gets caught on things and causes serious, sometimes life and limb threatening, injuries. Can write critical info on index card, and put it in a pocket. (We check pockets when people are confused or unconscious.) There are also medic alert shoe tags....See Morehsmeghan
