We used epoxy (one step by Behr from Home Depot)on our workshop, bathroom, and coatroom. While it's not basement, it is attached to the garage and is concrete floor. We added the roughening material (recommended) to the epoxy to prevent slippage, etc. We are NOT at all happy with this. Any mud from feet or tires is a bear (ha! - Behr, I get it!) to remove. I'm considering removing it and redoing it with the high quality stuff!! OR going without.

Okay, think I have a plan, but still not sure of finish, help please? Will vacuum wall and floor, wash with bleach solution, one coat of Zinsser 1-2-3 water based, then use a tinted Valspar interior as top coat. I'm hoping I'll just need one coat of each. Want to do off-white or light taupe. My biggest concern is since I will be painting the floor, which finish would hold up best. Basement doesn't get tons of traffic but would like some durability. Thanks for all replies or something I've missed.

Currently the floor can receive sheet goods - that's it. Carpet, sheet lino or sheet vinyl. The wonkiness of the concrete prevents everything else. To correct the wonkiness, you need to have the paint removed = abatement. Which is something you don't want to do. Mind you, once the abatement has occurred, you can go ahead and have the concrete flattened/dealt with and then you can have ANY FLOOR you want. Whenever you want. For as long as you want. Until then, you can work with "sheet" materials like carpet, lino or vinyl.

Hi RL Relocation LLC - I am really bummed I did not post my project prior to installing the ceiling, but it is what it is now. I am actually still considering having recessed lighting put in after the fact - I'm talking to my contractor about it when he comes tomorrow. When I texted him about it he said it wouldn't be easy, but certainly not impossible to install now. However, I'm wondering, barring that option - do you have any other suggestions for lighting? And you're really making me consider carpet - it would definitely make the cozy, comfortable feel I want. I'm a bit concern due to it being in the basement - there's a bit of a humidity issue down there, but not significant and I'm working to mitigate that. That was so cool how you sent a picture of my room with carpet and paint. So you definitely gave me the idea, but I would want it to use warmer colors for a cozier feel. I am curious how the wood lvp would look tho as well - any chance you could throw up a pix of that?
