Is this bedroom set too massive for my bedroom? (pics!)
Comments (51)Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?...See MoreMaster bedroom update/progress! Help picking wallpaper! Comments (31)nutmegxo- I have the embroidered coverlet and a duvet cover whiched I alternate using for my main covering and the euro shams also in the embroidered pattern. My dust ruffle is the satin in champagne, but I will honestly tell you, I did not like the way the dust ruffles are attached. They are attached by a strange type of straight pin which were very difficult to attach. Not only that but the part that was attached to the box spring, tore in several places. The dust ruffles themselves are beautiful, but they way they are attached is not a good idea. Even velcrow would be better. The wallpaper that I was looking at was F&B and the minimum order is 3 rolls, making the price around 900.00. Way too much for one wall! I love yours and may start looking again. It really does make a statement! I love the direction you are going and the color is great!...See MoreSad Master Bedroom
Comments (36)I think Greywings raised the most important point. You can work with the headboard, you can work with the wall color -- the biggest problem is that you have one blob of black. It isn't so much that it is a king bed as it is that it is the only black in the room. All those other photos where the black headboard works have other black elements in the room. Personally, I would paint, but that has nothing to do with the headboard -- only that I would prefer other wall colors. If you like that color and want to work with it, you can. No paint color is going to fix things until you bring in some additional touches of black (look at the throw on the end of the bed -- it doesn't all have to be pure black, but enough to balance and ground. ) The nightstands could be espresso or charcoal grey. They will still show dust, but not as bad as a piano black finish....See MoreMaster Bedroom - starting over
Comments (62)I understand your window issue now. I'm not keen on bare windows for a bedroom either. I have simple white sheers with a blackout blind in mine. When the blind is open during the day, the sheers are there to filter the light and offer some privacy. I rarely open the sheers. How about a double rod for sheers and something more textural on top that could dress the window sides? Don't know if that option was suggested upthread but I don't see a picture for it. There is the roman blind with sheers option Irene posted. Perhaps you'd appreciate an in-home consultation? I know a few companies offer free window treatment estimates. There are all sorts of options that exist out there. You might want to see what the optimal option is for you and see what kind of chunk of change it would cost you before trying to navigate the ready-made options. The two curtains you linked to would look fabulous. I'm partial to hanging curtains with rings as shown in the first curtain pic you shared....See Morekatinparadise
