Comments (13)Florence, 2 turkeys? Talk about Martha Stewart. Where do you store everything? Do you have more than 1 fridge? Joe - congrats! JD & I stopped being friends somewhere around 1995. I didn't see him every night, nor was it really a problem; I just decided one day that I didn't like it any more. Meredith - galuschka = Gulyas? Hungarian Spaetzle = Little Dumplings for those wondering. We never had much Hungarian food growing up, nor did the parents speak Hungarian. Started the stuffing yesterday; cooked up all the veggies that go into it. I usually have dad's Hungarian sweet peppers to add to it (it makes the whole stuffing) but not this year. I "baked" a dutch apple Sarah Lee pie yesterday and let a pecan pie thaw. Was going to make rice Krispie treats, but my back wouldn't let me. It will be a small affair - hubby, my 2 kids, his son and my son's 2 friends that moved to CA a few years ago. They both decided to leave their mom and come back "home" they live with friends. Any time after today marks the big baking spree I will try to do. I always make tons of cookies for Christmas, want to send a few batches to the guys in Iraq. Someone from a computer forum I go to is stationed there, want to send him and his friends a little bit of "home". We picked up my big gift the other day, a pro kitchenaid stand mixer. Got it for a really great price at the wholesale club. I will use it and rebox it. Hope everyone has a great day. It will be hard for me at times without my dad; but I'll get through it. Comments (18)Jasdip, Of course you only meant to pass on good wishes. I wouldn't ever think you were belittling or minimizing the day's meaning. chisue has it right, retailers make any opportunity to sell sell sell and so many Americans ignore or really don't know the real meaning of the day. bengardening, My condolences for the losses you have suffered over the past few years. I will pray you can find solace and remember the happier moments of your shared times. It is inevitable Death will eventually take all we love in time if it doesn't come for us first. Our only chance is that we might live full, enriching lives and pass on something special to others. Your father was a hero as are your husband and son. The releasing of the water from the dams is awful for so many people and it is not taken lightly by those who had to make this decision. Fact is it would be devastating and possibly deadly for many more should the dams burst (still a distinct possibility). This way, with warning, at least people are able to get affairs in order and take what they want from the planned flooding area. Nothing like a flash flood, a tsunami, a Cat 5 tornado, an earthquake or a wind whipped wildfire to make you see the better side of this. LIL...See MoreJust making sure everyone’s alright out there!!
Comments (36)Bob Wow!!!! I would run someone over for trees like yours lol I bet that lasts you the whole year! wished I lived in your area to see those amazing fruits :) mike I’m glad you’re safe and still getting pay! I know a lot of my relatives and friends who cannot make their mortgage payments and the wait time calling the bank to defer the payments is hours! I feel so terrible and yet there’s not much many of us can do in situations like these. My nurse friend told me that every time I go out when I come back in to strip to my undies and put all my clothes in the washer and go straight to the shower since I also live with my elderly mother. I’m very glad to hear of your safe family and mom :) Lol mike I love it so far the staying home except I’m driving everyone in my house nuts as I keep cleaning up after them and following my pets around with a broom lol I’m glad it’s sunny today we are forecasted to have two weeks of rain then what will I do lol! I have just tried my hand at grafting mike I’m so excited!! :) I cut myself several times I’m so clumsy and the whole thing took me hours lol oh well I guess we’ll see in three weeks :) I too am worried about Brian and family I truly hope he’s just been busy with his citrus. Take care my friend lots of hugs to you! :)...See More2ManyDiversions
