Comments (4)You are brave, I could never let someone tile anything, unless I was able to check the layout daily! I hate the look of 1/3 offset, so I prefer to go with stacked when there is no other choice. I find the repeating stair-step pattern busy and prefer the straight simpler lines of the stacked pattern. You need someone to do a scale drawing of the layout to get a feel for how the patterns will work. Next best thing is if the tile installer will prop some tiles up in the different patterns and take some photos for you. Match the grout to each tile color. Good luck!...See MoreBathroom tile: Does this look right to you?
Comments (3)That doesn't look like a bench. It looks like a tub. See the spout on the left to fill the tub? Frankly this tile job looks pretty good to me. I'm not seeing what you're trying to explain, but then again, I'm no expert. Your window is not centered so either they centered the tile which they did or they centered it on the window. I think they made the right choice. Of course that does beg the question of what they used for waterproofing. :)...See MoreMaster Bathroom Needs Help! Advice Please...
Comments (30)Thanks MissRed 58! I would not put a wall or enclose the toilet. Just build the shower and have either a full or half wall of tile next to the toilet .Then you can use the same treatment on the shower wall next to the window or use glass on the other 2 sides of the shower. The room will look and feel more spacious and light but you will still have plenty of privacy for the toilet. I understand wanting storage but I think if you put a cabinet with a solid wall next to the window you will lose the light and only view you have in the room. Actually if you do 2 sides of glass and a solid wall of tile next to the toilet it will give you an entire wall to put all of your plumbing with easy access from the toilet side if you have a problem. You could to half tile/half glass wall on the sides of the shower and build the 1 foot wide cabinet on the side of the shower near the window and same on the side near the toilet. But I always worry about leaks with half tile/half glass. Would probably prefer the 2 sided glass and 2 solid tile walls and optimize storage in the vanity. Or build the wall near the toilet thicker and add storage near the toilet if you feel you need. Hope you can follow my jibberish above!!...See MoreHelp me fix these red tiles in master bathroom please!
Comments (28)I would choose a tile paint that would cover ONLY the red. Find a colour that would work for the bathroom (with floor pattern as-is) and then go ahead and paint JUST the red. But that means you would HAVE to change out the light/plug-in facing to the same colour (or match the wall tile colour). Personally (because I am cheap and lazy) I would look at large throw rugs (no backing...just natural fibres...you have in-floor heat) to cover up most of the floor. By leaving a bit of the red peeping out means you can leave the switch plates alone. If you are moving in 4 years, you can reassess in 3 years. Remember: if you are moving in a short amount of time, you are not the 'owner' you are designing for. You are trying to design for someone else. Someone you do NOT know. That's tough enough on it's own....See Morekudzu9
