Bosch Induction Range + Teppanyaki Question

For those who have ordered the Bosch Teppanyaki, do you notice a slight wobble to it when it is laying flat against the stovetop? I just received mine from AJ Madison, and it has a definite wobble to it if I press on a corner. That seems like a defect to me, but wanted to check with other owners. Thanks!

I can't speak for the Bosch offering but I can recommend Demeyere's. I purchased the 7-ply when it was deeply discounted. It's dead flat and very even once all of that metal has preheated. It also stays warm for a very long time. My visual imperfection was a tiny nick on the edge of the rim.

Following... would like a Teppanyaki after new bosch.

I think I'd return it, were it me, though.

Most of the Tepenanyaki accessory's I've seen have been a thick stamped metal. It is extremely difficult to get a completely flat surface with thick stamped metal

I personally have never used the self clean feature. I'm too worried about the heat from that messing up the electronics (that's what people thought several years ago when I got mine; not sure if opinions have changed). I generally use some kind of pan to catch drips, so only rarely have things drip onto the oven floor, and for things like roasted chicken that may spatter grease all over, it seems to just bake off over the next times I'm using my oven. So, I can't tell you how the self clean works, but I can tell you that I haven't really ever felt the need for it, either.

Unfortunately, I only learn about new stove releases when I happen to stumble across the news. I do know what you mean about being "somewhat underwhelmed by current offerings." Regarding your interest in a bridging element, we are going a bit off topic here, but if you are looking for an induction capable burner spanning griddle, you might want to check out the Zwilling website's clearance of their DeMeyere branded Plancha/Griddle/Teppanyaki. Here is the link. For me, this multi-layered, induction capable Demeyere griddle pretty much solves the problem with most griddles I've used --- that of being much hotter over burners than over the area between them. I've had no trouble cooking pancakes on the middle space and having them done as soon as the outer ones. I like the plancha better than standalone electric griddles like the Broil King because the DeMeyere heats just as evenly, sotres more conveniently, and also doubles as a really great roasting pan. There also is a rather short thread here at houzz in the cookware forum (only gooster, suzi/desterdance, and myself commenting there.) Try rebooting it by turning power on and off at the main circuit. I have not gotten that error message but on very rare occasions the cooktop seems to freeze. If it was a computer you would press cont/alt/del but since it does not have that button we turn power on/off. this happens once every several months so we have not called repair guy out for this. I think that it is the downfall of all electronic equipment - all of them have mini-computers inside....

Daisy - no, I haven’t. Our stovetop actually quit working and was recently replaced. After it was replaced it worked better than it had since day 1, so clearly there was something wrong with it from the start. I will test the flex zone this weekend and see if that has gone away or it still does that! I will let you know!

I have the 7-ply Demeyere, too. Use it on my Bosch induction cooktop. Very flat. I don’t have a bridge but I just straddle it over two hobs. Works great.

Like MizLizzie, mine straddles two hobs. When I used it on my 6" and 8" hobs, there was hardly any difference in the browning of my grilled cheese across the plancha.

Here's what I said when I first got it.

"The griddle takes some time to heat across the surface. I used medium (6 on my Bosch induction) for about 10 minutes, while doing other things, then turned it to low (4). The top slices were started on the hotter side (at the bottom of the pic and larger of the two hobs) and moved up as I buttered the others. Surprisingly, the middle of the griddle gets the hot the quickest even though the larger hob isn't right there, but on the lower end. This bread is very uneven by nature so, the browning isn't even because of that. I also haphazardly buttered them. It did a nice job, though. It takes a long time for it to cool, so it would be wonderful to keep food warm through a dinner. Be careful! The edges get very hot and I brushed a knuckle against it by accident. Ouch."
