Bosch induction range flex zone question

We have the new Benchmark induction slide in with the flex zone. I noticed recently that if I have the flex zone connected the heat isn’t as high as when they are separate. For instance, I was cooking and the food was sizzling on the front half, but I realized the zone was disconnected and the back half wasn’t cooking. I connected them and immediately the sizzling side stopped sizzling. I verified the temp was set to where it had been before. I disconnected the zones and the front immediately started sizzling again, connected them and it immediately stopped. When I left it connected it all cooked, but definitely at a slower pace than it had been using the single burner. Is this how it is supposed to work? I wasn’t using Boost, it was set to 8 or 8.5, something like that.
