baseboard wood (not painted) does it need to match?

ok...

All rooms (except kitchen) have windows that are beautiful oak wood trim. Floors are oak too.

But in these rooms the baseboard and doors are a matching color, but not a matching wood, i think they are maple or something else. They are wood, no obvious grain pattern. The baseboard almost has no grain pattern. Anyway it all looks fine to me......

KEEPING: kitchen too has beautiful oak wood trim around the windows. The cabinets are new cherry wood of the same tone and color. The doorways are like the rest of the house, same color, but not sure of the wood type. Doorways trim looks maple, or no grain, but matches in color.

HERE'S THE QUESTION

So we are redoing the baseboards in the kitchen b/c they are in bad condition. Do i keep them like the rest of the house and the doorways (no grain looking wood)? Leaving the windows oak.

or do i change them to oak, matching the windows, but then they don't really match the doorway trims?

i'll try to post pictures later
