Robert, they are totally different roses but Sequoia listed it incorrectly on their web site. They don't have Secret Garden Noisette, just SGMC. I know this because I spoke with Carolyn at Sequoia. I just don't want you to think you are getting SGN and receive a rose you already have. The Teas can take a few years to get established here. If I weren't an extremely patient person, I probably wouldn't have any Tea's! The first two to three years I wondered what all the fuss was about and then they matured and I fell in love with them. Once their roots are established they take off growing and the blooms are constant and larger. MDC literally sat in my garden not growing more than a half inch for nearly two years. Now she is 6 ft tall and nearly as wide. The challenge of growing roses in our transitional zone is exactly as you say, warm days then hard freezes. It seems I always have some damage but so far the roses have bounced back. Carol

"Did you design the raised beds near the fence? The shape makes me think of flowing water, weird, huh?" Since it's designed specifically to shed water at the ends and middle I think that's a great impression. But - I'll tell you a secret. After I got it all done, I looked at the planter wall and -- laughed. Just laughed, because I had built a DRAGON. I looked at it and saw a dragon, that I had invited on my property-; maybe a feathered serpent given the location. When I point it out to people, they see it too. Or -- they look at me like I'm crazy pants, whatever. I might even make a dragon head and tail art to install. It's hard to get a pic of the whole thing, but the dragon head is (invisibly) at the terminous of the planter wall on the right below. What can I say? I have an imagination.

I have been auditing college and university classes in both VA and SC for the past 20 or so years. In both states, there is a fee to be paid, even for senior citizens. We can opt to take tests and exams, or not. Among the interesting classes I have audited: History of Ireland, History of Western Art, Ancient Egypt, History of Witch Persecution in Germany, Life of Martin Luther and the Reformation, English Renaissance Literature, History of the American West (with an emphasis on Native American tribes), and Voyages of Columbus. Often, we have been assigned original manuscripts to, as in Columbus' journals. Here in Charleston, I'm fortunate to live only a few blocks from the College.
