No place to put TV in great room!! Need help!!!
Comments (14)This is a suggestion that has worked marvelously for us - although it's not cheap. We have a projector tv. The screen is mounted on the ceiling in a bay area. My husband made a soffit to go in front of it so unless you're standing behind it in the bay area, you don't see the screen when it's in retracted. We don't have windows in this area because it's actually under the dining room bay window. The projector is attached to the ceiling, but I've seen them on the top shelf of bookcases. We love this solution because then the room isn't arranged around a large object that when 'off' is otherwise useless (and unattractive). I personally don't like entertainment centers because it just makes it take up more space - and most people leave the tv exposed anyway. The only issue with a projector tv is that you need the room fairly dark when watching so you would need some window coverings or shades that are room darkening. Man, is it ever great for popcorn and a movie, though! We haven't been to a theatre for a single movie since we did this....See MoreTV room in old stone home needs help
Comments (6)Can you hand the TV on the long wall without the window or door? Then turn the couch perpendicular to the window. You could even consider a sectional. I'd first think about painting the room a lighter shade with white trim, as it reads as a bit dark gloomy. Also- blinds on window if needed for privacy, floor length panel curtains on a rod that is extended beyond the window about 12" on either side- will make the window appear larger....See MoreNeed help decorating a TV alcove above fireplace
Comments (8)Leave the TV by itself....doesn't need decorating but could you have glass doors put on the left side of the fireplace where your components are? If not that....take measurements and go to a store that sells baskets and find a basket that fits each shelf and put your components and discs and other miscellanious things in the baskets....See MoreHelp! Comments (26)So we love the brick and wouldnt want to cover it up + we could use the extra storage space. We’re also going for a more MCM vibe, given the house is pure MCM architecture and well, we like that style… and so MCM furniture is one way to create that vibe vs cs. just normal modern. The reason we like grey is because it’s a neutral and we’re not a fan of the wall paint providing the color, because you are stuck with it (until you paint again) and it can be over-powering (unless that’s what you really want)… where as we like neutral because it allows us to layer in color and texture, etc. and balance a vibe through iteration. That said, we were considering going with a cool white instead (maybe BM Decorator White), but are unsure… @JustMe - Any specific BM white you like?...See More- 6 years agolast modified: 6 years ago
