Need help finding rug and decorating alcove
Comments (7)Since your alcoves are above the TV hutch, which also looks like it has some items on the shelves, I would keep the items in the alcoves very simple. One fairly substantial item per shelf would look better IMO. I would wait until you get the rug and then use at least one or two items that pick up the color you want to use as an accent, such as a large vase or bowl, plate or a piece of art on an easel....See MoreWhat do I do with space above fireplace? Comments (25)Not a Pro. I agree with above about the tv. Above the fireplace I would put a painting over the top of that alcove. From the pictures it looks like there is a ledge, so the art can be place over the top and it will appear that it is on a wall. Comments (10)I actually really like the look of the mirror. It's all too predictable to see a painting about the mantle. If this were my living room, I would surround it with other things. You could place a small clock in front of it or some art next to the fireplace, like you can see here. I can also see what other posts are saying about covering it, but I feel that would make the room feel much smaller. Mirrors help make rooms feel a little more open,...See MoreNeed help finding a rustic wooden media console for TV Alcove
Comments (27)groveraxle, I was more concerned personally about actual size of the sideboard in terms of how large it is on its own, and then we are moving it up into an alcove... Maybe I'm making myself paranoid about this, but the piece is 54"W x 17¾"D x 29½"H. Good point about the distance between the screen and console. We can always move the TV screen up as it's on an arm. Here is a pic of the 4 panel sideboard. This one is much wider than the 3 panel we photoshopped in, however the height is the same - 29 1/2"....See Moreerinsean
