Is there much room between the bed and the settee?

Sorr, it isn't clear which way bed is facing...... the settee is on the right of the bed

Ive got about 7 ft from end of bed to the opposite wall

Beautiful... just like the rest of your home! I like the bench you selected. I also like the idea of the wood bench with a lambs wool throw. Not sure if they are washable.

Are you sure your furry pal can get up on the bench and then onto the bed or couch? They make special "stairs" for furry pals that help them get up onto the bed or couch. I would try pet stores first.

I think either would work well. I'd probably choose based on what's easiest to keep clean.

I really like them both. I prefer the first one a little more because it adds some nice subtle color. You've been wanting to use a kilim somewhere go for it.

Erinsan, I have thought about those steps. I've always had a bench for him- he just needs a little help. It seems naked without one now.

Beckysharp- I don't know which one would be easier. I was so surprised to find that filth in the basket!! Guess it's better to come off there than on the bed!

Shee, it would add some color!! Guess I could always try to lighten the legs some- if they seem too dark. And it goes in the den- could pull it out when I need additional seats.

Peppa, did you ever decide on a bench? I am looking for a bench to go at the end of our king now, too. It’s difficult to find one long enough. I’m now considering using three cubes - which would also make for more versatile extra seating should we ever need it. We have a cube in our living room that we use for an end table that has come in handy several times when we needed a quick extra seat at our dining table.

World market 30% off appealed to my sensible side of basically, a bench for dogs. The foam isn't super dense.

The "lump" on the floor can't use it yet, but one day he won't be as wide as he is tall!!! (It's really all fluffy hair)

It seems everything here is a hit-and-run, with people screeching in saying they're "Desperate!" for help, and then away they go. Either that or it's 900-post threads with three people talking to each other. Sigh...

And so very few pretty rooms. Which is one of the reasons I'm so glad you posted. Even though it makes me sad that we don't have World Market in Canada -- I wish the Bed Bath and Beyond folks would get on that.

Your room is gorgeous and so very livable. The bench you chose seems to be exactly like mine except that the material is greige on mine.

It's true that there are fewer pretty rooms than there were a few years ago. Many gray rooms with large sectionals, and not so much of the individual touch that makes a room special and homey.

We used to have a world market here locally, but it closed. It's a great store. Used to go & get all kinds of cool stocking stuffers there, too.

Years ago, we could've had Houses That Gardenweb Decorated as a book. Tasteful homes from modern to traditional.

Yes, it's true Peppapoodle. I still recall quite a few of those lovely rooms but unfortunately those posters seem to have left. It's a very different forum now and I've come to realize that I don't belong here any more. I wish there were some alternate forums, but nowadays it seems to be more about blogging than forums. I suppose change is inevitable and we either accept it or move on.
