Please check your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore for items that will help your remodel budget. The door makes the space tight. You might consider small double doors preferably opening into the hall They will need an astragal for privacy. I think the blue lavatory can be lovely with the appropriate water and mold resistant wallpaper. The space you are making available is a good depth for bath linens but consider drawers for smaller items so you don't have to rearrange every time you need something in the back. Simple Human makes drawers which can easily be installed on shelves and hide behind doors. I would definitely hide storage with doors to avoid visual clutter and protect from moisture. Speaking of moisture, take a look at your exhaust fan. There are some very efficient and quiet fans on the market today. In addition there are products like DampDry and the little packets that come in almost everything these days that you can place inside the storage closet. If you go with floor to ceiling doors I suggest looking for mirrored ones to visually enlarge the space. Painting the vanity white (properly prepare the surface first), coordinating the lavatory with rugs, towels, a window treatment and paint or wallcovering will give you the look you want within your budget. Splurge on a natural organic diffuser and enjoy!

These are all very good thoughts! I’ve been looking on Facebook Market and Craigslist for used vanities or floor sample sale items, and I’ll continue to do that. We’ve been by a couple of warehouses that have items from demolition, but nothing has quite worked yet. Habitat for Humanity May be a good place to look though - we haven’t been there! For removing the shower door, I didn’t think of that for a full shower. Can that be done? I figured doors were necessary, and my husband didn’t like the idea of just covering the doors with a shower curtain. Getting rid of it could be good.. I think changing out the mirror, light and paint could be the first step to take sooner than later. Complication to white is that this tile is cream colored. See this pic to see the difference... still neutral at least! I think I can move forward with navy and gold accents, right?

@Cherie I've definitely had that thought, but I feel that the longer we wait to do this project the harder it gets to deciding what we want. I've found that the more I think about this project the more unsure I've become really. This post was as close to we got to feeling like things were set to go...but given how this thread is going maybe taking extra time is the way to go @kariyava i actually love that all sand look...I showed it to my partner and we are considering using the sand britstone we chose with nickel fixtures just like it. but I think the stone we chose might a bit darker than the photo...might have to rethink the tile. As much as i like it I do worry that with double shower heads the bathroom might look a little crowded , and I'm not sure the spacious look would translate as well in a smaller bathroom with 8 ft ceilings

@Jennifer Hogan @Patricia Colwell @kandrewspa @cpartist Thank you all for chiming in! To answer a few questions and give some more collective context: 1. I whole heartedly agree with the dopamine hit when I am surrounded by my favorite colors. Not surprisingly, my favorite color is green, and it is the wall color in my bedroom (the room leading into the primary bathroom). The walls of my bedroom are BM Avon Green, which is quite dark and I love it every single time I go in there. While I would love to paint the bathroom walls green as well, I think it might be overkill, especially if it's a different tone altogether. I would love to do wallpaper but the choices are ENDLESS and I'm worried it will feel overwhelming to the eye. 2. I agree that Grand Millennial style is not very modern and I'm not describing this very well. If I had the time to research and money to spend, I'd go this route. The feel of my house is a bit more of a moody modern in style - I'm not sure what to call it. Maybe modern farmhouse? Our floors are natural white oak. Our kitchen cabinets are navy with black handles, to give some context (a bandaid fix for some 90's era yellowing oak cabinets from the prior owners). 3. I've read a ton of articles on mixing metals and i've looked at many pictures of mixing metals in bathrooms specifically, and I'm not sure I agree that you can't do it in a small space. The bathroom is gutted right now so I have no photos to show of what is actually in there. I did post photos of the vanity and fixtures in my original post.
