My New Valentine Wreath: Which Do You Prefer?
Comments (19)Thanks for all your opinions! Since the majority of you think the cupid should stay, he's staying. DD informs me that he's not Cupid, but an angel because he doesn't have the prerequisite bow & arrow. He's holding a mandolin, I think. Hmmmmm! I've hung the wreath on the inside of my front door until I can get a hanger for my big picture window in the dining room tomorrow at HL. I've also added more roses to the bottom right of the wreath. Does it look ok to you? Take them off or leave them on? Lynn...See MoreQuestions about my new FW Valentine Pummelo
Comments (21)Lauren- I started using them for veggies/herbs in my garden and they worked great so I thought I would try them out on my citrus to save cost. 5-1-1 is pretty expensive to make when you have a lot of trees and reptibark is the closest thing you can find to use. My experience is that of Pac's they just sat all summer and didn't grow at all, not even a new leaf. I water them less that those in the 5-1-1 but they somehow are never quite right between over and under watered. There might be a better way to grow them or a better mix to have in the bags, I have been toying with the idea of getting some promix but for now I'm going with what I know works for me so I don't lose another season of growth. Pac- Well I am glad you got your tree! i had considered ordering from pearson back when you had mentioned it but decided to wait since it was a higher cost so I am glad it all worked out! I don't know why the pots didn't work out but I suspect that even with the 60/40 soil/perlite mix and the breathable pots that the soil is still compacting too much. I had them in full sun in the hot part of my yard so I don't think the roots were too cool but I don't know for sure. The plastic pots and 5-1-1 seem to be the way to go for me. Bob- Thanks for the advice! I emailed FW yesterday and haven't heard back yet. If I don't get a response by tomorrow I am going to call. I think I'd be able to shave it down, will it hurt the tree to have an "open wound" like that? is there any special way I should treat it afterwards?...See MoreWhat about Valentine pomelo?
Comments (12)Wow Bob that is huge! My valentine tree has not grown much - it is pretty weak I think. Frankly I’m now thinking maybe they sent me the wrong kind when I ordered like two years ago from that nursery - one green world. I’m annoyed because I have another tree from them that was supposed to be a pearl tangelo, and it is obviously not. It has several oranges for the first time, but they are not tangelos, but the Vaniglia blood orange I’m not so fond of. The valentine tree has leaves that look an awful lot like wekiwa tangelo and now that I think about it, it tasted like it too. That’s very annoying! I guess those are two more I can re-home!...See MoreValentine pomelo grafted to seville sour
