Can anyone tell me about Valentine's Day Climber?
Comments (5)Here's an update on my Valentines Day. It was only about 4" tall when I got it almost a year ago. I left it in a pot until September then planted it in the ground. Now it's about six feet tall! I cut most of the blooms off last year so the growth would go into the roots, hopefully it will pay off this year. The blooms I did leave on were magnificent! A deep red color and they last a long time. I'm growing it up a post. This rose is supposed to be fairly disease resistant, however I spray so I can't comment on that. When it blooms in mid April I'll post a photo here. So far, I would recommend this rose. Mark...See MoreTell us about your Valentines!
Comments (6)I don't get Valentines...so probably have nothing to add to this thread, but this: When we were trying to buy this place, I would come over here fairly often and just walk around. One day, I saw some daylilies and alstromeria coming up near where an old house used to be. I know that people had lived here for at least 100 years, but there were few signs of them left. I sent a little ESP message to whoever (long dead) planted these flowers. (ESP message for want of a better word.) I said, "I love flowers too, and if we get this place, I promise I will take good care of your flowers." We bought the place, and seems like every time I went for a walk in the woods, or anywhere, I would find a little surpise...an old bottle, or unusual wild flower. Always some little gem. The first Valentine's day that we had the place, I was looking at an old asparagras bed that had been mowed over many times because now it was sort of in the edge of the pasture. Coming up alongside it was a rose bush. Even tho it had been mowed down many times, antique roses are tough and it had been struggling to come back. So...I got a beautiful rose bush...red flowers...and I considered that to be my Valentine's gift....See MoreGuys FW has valentine pomelo and bouquet de fleurs IN STOCK!!!
Comments (47)Brian and Dev, thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking a while and have learned so much from all the experts here. Discovered I was doing everything wrong so maybe I'll finally get some fruit now after years of lots of blooms but no fruit ;-) And yes the Costcos here started selling citrus about five years ago for about half of what the garden centers were charging. Unfortunately they haven't really added different varieties although 2 years ago they brought in olive trees. Don't like olives so I passed but they were beautiful looking. Haven't seen them again....See MoreMe and my pomelo.
Comments (9)ob! I am doing ok! My husband agreed to build me a new raised bed for my garden this summer so I am so excited! I started a couple of my seedlings to be sure that I will have everything ready when spring will come. Summer is so short here that I don’t want to waste a minute lolll! Bob, I don’t know this variety of atemoya. How does it compare to gefner? I am eying this one because it doesn’t require any hand pollination. All my citrus are doing great in the greenhouse. The jaboticaba is quite happy as well as my avocado. The more tropical ones are suffering a bit. Bob, I have some papaya seeds. I will try to germinate some this year!...See MoreMonyet
