My New Valentine Wreath: Which Do You Prefer?

I finally had time to work on my new wreath for Valentine's Day this afternoon. I wanted something a bit rustic but also very romantic looking. I found the twig wreath at HL for 50% off. The ivy was also half off. I already had the roses and the pearl garland.

I didn't want a busy wreath, but I can't decide if I want to keep it with or without the Cupid ornament. This isn't where I'll be keeping it, but I needed a place with good natural light so that it would, hopefully photograph well.

BTW, I discovered that the best way to decorate a wreath is to do it while it's hanging. So I hung it on the 3-panel room divider screen in our living room.

Here's a close-up pic to see some of the detail.
The pearl garland looks like plain white beads in these pics, but IRL the garland has a pretty pearl look.

Great room:-) Number 4 gets my vote. I don't like the down lights in a dining room because they throw shadows on people's faces that are unattractive. Just a note to ask your realtor about the drapes. Everywhere I've lived, when we sold whatever curtains were hung went with the house (the contracts are standard in that way). And the thing is, the drapes really make that room fantastic, so I'd want to show it with them. Maybe you can the realtor put an exclusion in regarding the drapes, so you can still have them hanging during the showings.

Treasuretheday--what a gorgeous shower! You've convinced me to do the panel plus door! Incidentally, a couple of people have asked me about the tile I used. It's a ceramic called Skabos made by Cenit (a Spanish company--usually readily available at most tile showrooms). Economical but great quality and it looks just like travertine--it is even tumbled, though you can get a glossy version. It comes in 3 by 6 (which I have) and also a larger, long vertical size. The pattern was the suggestion of the manager of the tile store I use. I'll post another pic when it's complete. Thanks, everybody for your help!

Sorry it took so long to respond. We had company over the weekend and then I had a tailbone injury which thankfully isn't broken. Sadly, though, I am selling my horses. It just isn't worth ANY injury when you have small children. Anyway, thank you all very much! I so appreciate your comments and suggestions. Those butler's pantries are charming. Igloochic, I love the idea of two doors in the pantry. I am also really intrigued by that floorplan you posted, Mahlgold. I saved it for my contractor. Holligator, I too would much rather have the natural light in the kitchen, but I figured that the almost 6-foot sink window would take care of that. I met with my contractor the other night and he felt I should put away the plans for a few weeks and spend the time trying to get the original blueprints for this home from the county. It's very oddly built and he feels we can save a lot of time and money by avoiding any exploratory demolition. Rob, I assume you are talking about a nice big range like a Wolf or Viking. Boy would I love that! Unfortunately, we are committed to sticking to our budget and that just won't fit into it. We can not eek out one more cent for the remodel. I'm hoping people will focus so much on the hood area, they won't notice my little cooktop, LOL! Here is my inspiration. It's pretty modest, but it's just something I'm drawn to.

Couch or chair - which do you prefer at home?

Hubby and I each have our own recliner. Papa bear and Mamma bear ones. We have a couch also, but it is only used when we have company. It's about 12 yrs old or more. I would like to get a new one but hubby likes to lay on this one occasionally and it does look almost like new. We built a new house and moved in last year and I would like something a little more colorful. Maybe next year, we have spent mucho bucks on landscaping this year ( his thing) next year (my thing). Ha!

I prefer.....drum roll please.....
you send it to me! But my second preference is WITH.
That is a beautiful design on that wreath! And the pretty Cupid would look great ANY place on it.

I learned that it was much easier on my body to decorate wreaths while hung up last year! No more laying them on the table.

I'd use it with the cupid for Valentines and without for other times. Could be used anytime in a bedroom or bathroom for a romantic touch. The pearls are a really nice addition, I must use that, I've been collecting them from yard sales.

Very pretty, Lynn! I really should get busy and make a Valentine's wreath. Yours is such a good inspiration. I like it with the cupid but wonder if it would look good with it attached into the greenery near the roses? It just seems a little bare to me with it hanging in the middle - just my opinion! Thanks for sharing!

I vote for a red heart hanging down..I know:) that wasn't an option..LOL
Maybe a little gypsophilia around the roses to make them pop..(Baby's Breath)

Actually, that does sound like a good idea.

Lynne, if you don't move the little cupid to the side, and you hang the wreath on a light colored wall, how about trying to back him with a red or pink heart so that he'll show up a bit more?

Very pretty, Lynn. I like it both ways, but really better without. It doesn't sound like my usual "excess is better" attidude does it.

Thanks for all your opinions! Since the majority of you think the cupid should stay, he's staying. DD informs me that he's not Cupid, but an angel because he doesn't have the prerequisite bow & arrow. He's holding a mandolin, I think. Hmmmmm!
I've hung the wreath on the inside of my front door until I can get a hanger for my big picture window in the dining room tomorrow at HL. I've also added more roses to the bottom right of the wreath. Does it look ok to you? Take them off or leave them on?
