I had to get a new phone so here's a first shot with my iphone 8...not sure it's much different in quality than the 6. What's interesting though is this pic is in color...it's just that winter can be so drab around here. But I like the round shape of the snow/ice in the pond formed from the moving water by the inlet.

Comments (9)Its only my second time there in 20-some years. My wife's family used to go there every summer for the month of August, and shortly after we started dating her family had a large reunion trip to the island. It happened to be the first time I met any of her family, and there sure were a lot of them. That trip (which was in August, years ago) the weather was mostly good, this trip the weather was cold, windy and rainy. So by my scientific sampling the weather is rotten about 50% of the time. Comments (13)Stacy, I have more time now, and thus, here it is: I started by browning the brats, added chopped garlic, and carrot slices, then the chopped up cabbage simmered all for a bit, then added chicken stock. That's the stock I had at hand. simmered till the whole house smelled yummy... ;) I had one package of sausage, I think it was 6 a BUNCH of garlic, almost a whole garlic I think it was 4 large carrots and there were two heads of cabbage, and finally 1 container of chicken stock Hope this helps. Comments (7)Yeah, I am getting help in the back yard. The Asplundh Tree Expert Co. is out cutting tree limbs in the neighborhood to help with electric lines and branches. This tree is actually on the neighbors lot, but totally overhangs my back corner. 8 years agoTaken last summer while forest fires were raging in N. Cal. This photo was taken mid-day and that is the sun not the moon. We choked on that smoke for weeks before the air finally cleared.

Redwing blackbirds (along with the Starlings and Doves here) These would be this years hatchlings with the light stripe on the wings. We have never had the Redwings at this time of year. Normally they pass through here in early March, and back through in September.

Mine is a neat coloring of poinsettia that I haven't seen before but very much like.
