Not my picture, but taken by local newspaper in Gadsden. I grew up going to the falls as a kid.

Crowds of onlookers gathered to take pictures and shoot videos of Gadsden's Noccalula Falls this morning, swelled by heavy rains and shooting steam into the air.

They received 20 inches of rainfall over a 24 hour period during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the county's Emergency Management Agency

lindy, your falls lack railings, so is it the same place??, but I bet much of the falls look like your photo a lot of the time! Glenda, Jim and I seem to be having the same weather. Flooding.

rob, it is the same falls. Back in my grandfather's days, it's said there was a night club underneath.

I used to go there on hayrides, family, church picnics, camping. Lots of fun there!

There's a story about Noccalula, the Indian girl that jumped over the falls.

We've had flooding too. Not as bad as many of you, but enough. I haven't been out and about to see it, but these are a couple of pictures from the flooding we had this past March. It's the Ohio River overflowing it's banks.

Our ponds are full. When I built my grandson's tree house in October, the upper pond was just a puddle on the deep end.

We spent Christmas Eve at Silver Springs State Park in Florida.

They still have the glass bottom boat tours that I remember from decades ago.

We also rented kayaks and paddled around the park

and saw various wildlife:

You were within 28 miles of us. We haven't been there since it has become a state park, except to come in by boat (never got out of the boat). It's a neat place.
