We got enough snow yesterday to cover everything.

One lonely little cookie left this morning on the Christmas cookie plate from daughter. Took It's picture, then ate it! Barely a bite, but it was good! Now, back to eating sensibly.

Many of the developers of wind farms have begun placing their turbines in off-the-land locations. A large lake, for instance, would not take up land space and the winds are just as predictable. The Gulf of Mexico will have hundreds of wind turbines within the next decade. As to waterfowl being affected by the movement of the turbine blades, most birds would recognize the situation if the first bird were to be caught in the slowly moving blades. The rest of the flock would veer away and only a few animals would be harmed. In the case of Canada Geese, that would not amount to a large percentage of those animals that are considered pests where I live. There is also the assumption that migratory waterfowl would fly at that particular altitude. Some geese fly much higher as they migrate.

Not my picture, but taken by local newspaper in Gadsden. I grew up going to the falls as a kid. Crowds of onlookers gathered to take pictures and shoot videos of Gadsden's Noccalula Falls this morning, swelled by heavy rains and shooting steam into the air. They received 20 inches of rainfall over a 24 hour period during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the county's Emergency Management Agency

That IS pretty Annie. This afternoon I had 10 cardinals at my feeder. This was in between the invasion of starlings and grackles - hundreds of them swamping the feeder. When they invade my neighbor's feeders she wraps on her window to shoo them away, then they fly up to my place!

lgmd....I totally agree with you. The new vanities with feet are the same height as a kitchen counter, adds 4". Then the bowl is another 6" tall.....then I pushed the sink back in the corner to free up counter space. This house is 4 levels, lots of stairs. Even the redwood decking is multi level. The person who rents this house will be in pretty good shape just to maneuver around the house. It's near a big park and creek trail. If a person is short...maybe a child, then there are two other bathrooms to choose from. My renters are generally just out of college, has a ton of tuition debt , new job with a big paycheck, a dog(running companion) and a cat or two(apartments won't accept cats or big dogs, but I will). Or military, will be here 3 years then PCS. I got 100 applicants for the last one that became available.

Brrr. Super-cold again. Thinking about this warms me a bit.

January 9, we'll be back in St. Thomas. This is a view from a cruise ship of the harbor and houses in Charlotte Amalie.

Moni - I can guess the main ingredients from looking at your photo. Should be easy to put together. Looks like it would be inexpensive, tasty and nutritious!

Stacy,

I have more time now, and thus, here it is:

I started by browning the brats, added chopped garlic, and carrot slices, then the chopped up cabbage simmered all for a bit, then added chicken stock. That's the stock I had at hand.

simmered till the whole house smelled yummy... ;)

I had one package of sausage, I think it was 6
a BUNCH of garlic, almost a whole garlic
I think it was 4 large carrots
and there were two heads of cabbage, and finally
1 container of chicken stock
