I was thinking an albino type as well. I'm sure rare.

Most or all of the others around it are house sparrows.

Probably has affected some native birds by competing for nest sites and food

Yes, I know the others are sparrows. Albino would be more white do you think? This bird definitely has a yellow hue, like a canary, that's why I initially thought it may be a type of finch. As colleenoz mentions, the shape and beak do resemble a sparrow tho. Curious.

It could be a leucistic sparrow, which is not quite the same as an albino.

A female House Sparrow is a lighter color than the male and can have a yellow tinge at the base of the beak. The feet are pinkish. It is possible that your bird is a female house sparrow with color variation.

Sparrows and other Brown Birds

I saw no light gray or tan or even a buff color, it was a soft yellow. Yes, must be a mutation like an albino would be (but not white).

It wasn't with the flock of sparrows this afternoon around 4pm. when I checked.

Nice pictures of birds. I would like to know where all the birds are at around here. We have plenty of birds in the spring/summer using the bird houses, but I have had a bird seed, nut, and fruit mix out since Thanksgiving and I haven't seen one bird. No cardinals, blue jays, not one single bird. Western PA

Vancouver currently has a very lost juvenile summer tanager, a very pretty bird. He's supposed to be somewhere south of central Mexico or in Brazil at this time of year. His faulty migration took him north east instead of south east from his Florida summer home. So maybe your guy is lost?
