Help with foyer paint color to complement Revere Pewter

7 years agoI've been looking at the BM website, and I agree with you that Silver Gray is a little sky bluey. If you want to stay in the earthtone family, how about Raccoon Hollow? I though Aegean Teal was very rich looking too, and would complement the Revere Pewter nicely. Good luck!

Comments (15)Based on measuring a sample of Revere Pewter and formal colorimetric standards, it belongs to the yellow hue family. Here's a complete Colorography of the color. This is an objective point of view based on the color's spectral curve or "fingerprint" measured in a controlled environment - usually lit with a daylight light source called D65. Which is very different from the very murky, slippery slope of undertones which are painfully subjective and totally determined by individual evaluation. In other words, when it comes to undertone, someone's making their best guess about what they see as far as a color's inherent qualities using random lighting conditions. Comments (9)First off, I can see you have so many colors right next to each other for swatching, and when I see a client do that I know I have lost them. Can you cover those colors, and regroup? There are too many colors... and now you are most likely unable to see any of them, even if you had a winner! A few color options to consider is Light Pewter, White Dove or Grey Owl (all Benjamin Moore) are all colors I have used in combo with Revere Pewter very successfully, and both options could work well in this space. Keep in mind when it is covering a larger space it doesn't look as dark as when it is in just one spot... and it will dry a different color. Another trick that designers sometimes do is purchasing a pearl or semi gloss finish which tends to read brighter since it allows the light to reflect off of the surface. You mentioned Sherwin Williams, but you are referencing Benjamin Moore color names. Benjamin Moore is the only one that does a pearl finish, so that is important. PRO7 years agoRevere Pewter is such a beautiful neutral. I feel Silver Gray is a bit too cool. I think a complimentary colour with green undertones will work beautifully. Something like Sea Salt or Comfort Gray by Sherwin Williams or Quiet Moments by Benjamin Moore.

PRO4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoWhen it comes to transition areas, it's often a good idea to go with a neutral as they are more versatile. Transitional areas like entryway/hallways can have SO many colours going off of them, and choosing a 'colour' for this area, can limit you in other rooms.
