Help with foyer paint color to complement Revere Pewter

6 years agoI've been looking at the BM website, and I agree with you that Silver Gray is a little sky bluey. If you want to stay in the earthtone family, how about Raccoon Hollow? I though Aegean Teal was very rich looking too, and would complement the Revere Pewter nicely. Good luck!

Comments (10)I had, and have, no pink anywhere, either. The colors in that library were all greens and terracottas and sisal and medium and dark toned woods...so the important thing was to keep it very peachy. The effect was to warm the neutrality of the gray. If you were to choose a blue, you might find the effect colder than you like. If you wanted to stay with the warm idea, but are a little put off by the pink idea, there's also a nice color adjacent to Melon Tint called French Vanilla (SW 7118) that is a little yellower, but still peachy. Whatever you decide, try to make sure you are choosing a tone that is light reflective rather than light absorbing...and be sure to look at your sample board -- you will make a sample board, won't you... :>) -- in the plane in which it will live...that is, stuck to the ceiling beside the trim. You want to avoid what my DH calls the V.A. Hospital effect, when a soft neutral appears in an unhelpful light condition. This may be 'out there', but I wonder if you could get a recessed light fixture put into the porch ceiling that uses a low wattage bulb that would cast some light toward the door there inexpensively. I think it would make a huge difference in giving a welcoming look to the house, and I'd use it during the day, and have it on a separate switch from the one that controls the ones on either side of the doors. Comments (9)First off, I can see you have so many colors right next to each other for swatching, and when I see a client do that I know I have lost them. Can you cover those colors, and regroup? There are too many colors... and now you are most likely unable to see any of them, even if you had a winner! A few color options to consider is Light Pewter, White Dove or Grey Owl (all Benjamin Moore) are all colors I have used in combo with Revere Pewter very successfully, and both options could work well in this space. Keep in mind when it is covering a larger space it doesn't look as dark as when it is in just one spot... and it will dry a different color. Another trick that designers sometimes do is purchasing a pearl or semi gloss finish which tends to read brighter since it allows the light to reflect off of the surface. You mentioned Sherwin Williams, but you are referencing Benjamin Moore color names. Benjamin Moore is the only one that does a pearl finish, so that is important. 6 years agoRevere Pewter is such a beautiful neutral. I feel Silver Gray is a bit too cool. I think a complimentary colour with green undertones will work beautifully. Something like Sea Salt or Comfort Gray by Sherwin Williams or Quiet Moments by Benjamin Moore.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoWhen it comes to transition areas, it's often a good idea to go with a neutral as they are more versatile. Transitional areas like entryway/hallways can have SO many colours going off of them, and choosing a 'colour' for this area, can limit you in other rooms.
