Don't want to miss my Italian Plums
Comments (15)My blue plums were still on the trees a few years ago but ripe when we had several days below freezing. When I checked the damage after the storm they were all frozen solid. So I picked, bagged, and went right in the freezer. They keep very well, I'm still u s ing them. Only problem is when thawed they turn to mush and don't have a lot of flavor. My favorite way to preserve them is to can with the pits. It imparts a cherry flavor into the fruit th a t is delicious. Otherwise I eat fresh or dried and they keep well in the fridge. Just e-mail your hubby to pick them in a week or so....See Morefeel good stories
Comments (7)A man across the street from me hada guide dog for many years. He loved it too much to replace it when it was too old to really guide him. About 2 months ago he found it dead- of old age and was devastated. Well, I few days I saw him on the street with a new dog that looked like the other. It guided him into a store he went to often- they got a reception you would not believe. The clerks and customers all crowded around them , some hugging him with delight. The dog was wriggling with joy. When I checked out I told the cashier and she was happy for him too. He helps out at the Salvation Army food pantry so I can imagine the reception he got there. That is a VERY lucky dog, it has the perfect owner....See MoreDon't you feel any pressure to Buy American??
Comments (52)NO. I think the same way as ebse - my husband and i slog it out to make money, get no benefits for being responsible with money, just keep seeing our taxes shooting up and up as a reward for our hard work. So, I buy the best value for my money. I hate my old GE profile cook top and am waiting to get rid of it. My fridge is a sub-zero and pretty much every thing else in my kitchen is not american. BTW/ we have never owned an American car - but, our last european car was manufactured in South Carolina - so maybe that is not true, after all. I am american, but have worked for 12 years in a Japanese semi conductor company with huge operations and thousands of american employees in California. So, what is American and what is non-american anymore? This is a global economy whether we like it or not. So, I am always happy to buy the best quality for my money without any pressure to buy american. If some american companies suffer (especially in the auto sector), it is not because of our lack of support, it is because of the poor business strategies - and anyway, Congress is always there to bail them out with my tax $$$$. So, no worries, I am supporting them by working hard to pay my taxes :)...See More~'I Feel Better, Don't You?' says Holly to....
Comments (10)One puppy has one eye open. All are showing signs of 'attitudes'. In a few days when everyone gets their eyes open I'll take pictures. It's time to put them online so the last two can be claimed. I'm really excited. All of the puppies will have 'bad hair day' hair like Tuffy. Even at a week old their hair is sticking up and all have little mustaches, beards and eyebrows. They are starting to make noises too. They growl and bark at each other a lot. They are just down the hall (in the furnace room) from my computer so I can hear them. Lori...See MoreOutsidePlaying
