Comments (2)I'd guess it to be some sort of crinum or a member of the Amaryllidaceae, not a true lily. I'd try posting this in that forum......you may get some better answers :-) Here is a link that might be useful: try here...See MoreCould you help me do the math on this, please?
Comments (7)Usually at age 65 a person has numerous options for "Medigap" coverage that would be considerably less expensive than this policy, so Alisande would probably switch to a Medigap policy at that age anyhow. Because of that, the provisions of this policy are really only a matter of concern for the next four years. As others have said, it's to a large degree a gamble. What I'd do is take a look at my medical spending for the last several years and use that as a guide in making a decision. If you've usually spent over $500 on medical expenses that would be covered by the policy, the lower deductible might make sense. Also, I'd look carefully at the provisions of the prescription coverage. Just because you spend $100 on a prescription doesn't necessarily mean that the policy will pay all of that. Take a look at what it would actually pay and then compare that to what you've spent on prescriptions for the last several years. Also, the higher deductible plan MAY have coverage for some prescriptions if they're part of a more major medical event, such as a hospital stay. That'd be something to look at as well. This is how I'd make the decision. But in general it's true that more times than not you're better off taking on more risk yourself and buying less insurance....See MorePlease help me with my math!
Comments (8)All dishwashers are designed for counters 36" above the finished floor, which means you'll be fine as long as your counter is at 36", not any lower. (For example, that could happen if you install the cabinets on the subfloor without raising them to the level of the finished floor, or if your toe kick is shorter than the cabinets are designed for.) For best futureproofing, I would strongly encourage you to tile under it with the same tile as the rest of the kitchen. If there's ever a leak from the dishwasher, you don't want it to seep into the plywood buildup....See MoreAm I all wrong here? Please help!!!!!
Comments (6)chastity-wow, there is so much going on here..... I do feel for you---no doubt I would have a very hard time with this---when you lay it out: a) he's not your child b) there are unpleasant intanglements attached to him (obviously a disturbed BM, former GF, stress of continued financial obligation, etc) c) turns out he's not your DH's child either! You would be frustrated, insulted on your husbands behalf when you think about the BM taking advantage of him for all of these years. You would be irritated that you have all of this added drama in your life. You would find it ridiculous, not to mention convoluted, explaining this to your younger children! Clearly, this is a hard situation to take, under no circunstances should you feel guilty for feeling the way you do. I think it would be impossible to find a woman who could turn a blind eye to any part of this kind of thing.... Some questions: Does SS demonstrate any sort of acknowledgement of the fact that your husband must dearly love him (as I would expect), to have continued to stay in his life? I know you said he maintains the relationship with the XGF, but does he blatantly disregard you and your place in his father and siblings life? Some advice: You didn't mention if SS was receiving any mental health care---if not, someone needs to take care of that-pronto! (You mentioned that your familys' finances were an issue--so if the BM won't get on it, try going through a social services charity). It sounds like your DH is committed to the child (again-as I would expect). So you two should seek some counseling, also to get some help navigating this. Also---when you have reached your wits end---it may help to remember that as frustrating, irritating, and ridiculous as this dynamic can get, your DH must be one hell of a man to have stepped up on this one! good luck!...See More- 8 years ago
