A flock of 17 turkeys comes through my property now and then, but usually I see 4 or 5 together. Yesterday I had the most I've ever seen at one time--so many, all moving, that I couldn't get an accurate count. There were at least 30 of them. The results of photographing the whole line from a distance weren't that interesting; I like this picture better. (The white and blue tubes are for maple sap.)

My cousin usually has a few turkeys for thanksgiving...my DH and I being 2 of them. ;)

Apparently, I'm in my own world this morning. I took Moni's shot to be a "where's the critter" and lgmd's was a challenge to decide if it is a sharp-shinned or Cooper's hawk (I decided its tail feathers are square enough to be a sharp-shinned, so went with that, even though you cannot possibly tell that way from this particular shot (the twig is blocking it).). Don't mind me at all today, since I seem to be drifty!

Annie....I purchased a house & in the cement it says, "Kevin & Candy". The 1st owners children I'm told. :0)

When we lived in Oklahoma we had a concrete floor poured for our barn. I asked some of my best friends to come over and help and we would provide a BBQ meal. I had a large group of guys who were happy to help out for the food. Those good friends just happened to be Toby Keith and all the band members of the Easymoney band. They were always at our house anyway. So everyone put their hand prints in the floor. The people who now own the house and barn have no idea they have some very famous prints in their barn floor.

Moni, I would bet that your pretty leaves are from an ornamental pear tree. Late to drop, and a variety of bright colors.

OutsidePlaying, that is the good thing about Gingko trees. The leaves fall all at once, none of this a little here and a little there. Go to bed when the trees are full of beautiful bright yellow and get up to bare trees and a completely yellow yard.

Rob, we decided that it is a Sharp Shinned hawk. It hangs around quite a bit for several days at a time, then we don't see it for a time. It will come back a week or so later to check the possible menu again at the bird feeders. I guess he has to eat too

I remember what happened to us when we had our starter house built. To save money, we did all the interior painting and finishing of the flooring. One day, after a full day of work, we arrived at the house and began painting the wall of the living room. It was nearing time to stop and with one wall left to paint. We were tired and loopy, but elated about our first home. I had a little paint left and we decided to let go and do something we'd never do - draw a picture on the wall. It would be painted over with the same color paint, so what's the harm? I drew a pastoral scene with rolling hills and trees. We laughed, remarked that it might be nice to have a mural on that wall someday, and left for a late dinner. The next evening, it was time to finish the paint job in that room. I painted the wall covering yesterday's drawing, so I thought. As I stood back - Horrors! - yesterday's drawing shone through. The paint was double thick over the brush stokes for the drawing and single thickness over the remainder of the wall. The dang drawing stood out when viewed from the side. Three coasts of paint later, it faded enough to pass but I could still see a faint outline of the drawing when viewed at a particular angle. Was I glad I had not put a profanity there.
