What does the exterior look like? It needs to look like it belongs form both views....................

I like your first inspiration picture, but how much room is between the big window on the left and the corner left of the FP? How much depth can you work into the space, and will the built-in bench on the left encroach on the window in that corner? You may need to consider replacing that window with a smaller one or it could get silly looking.

Thank you, Decoenthusiaste . There are about 34" from the left window to the end of the wall. Same as across the wall - I love the first photo too, but don't know how to end the fireplace at the top. Should I go to the ceiling or just pretend the slant isn't there?? I was thinking about adding 2 small windows like photo number 2 -- Or something like that..

I would want the cornice that is above the FP to match up level with the spot where the ceiling and side walls join. Then make your 2 new windows the same height as the big window on the left and doorway on the right (assmuing they are the same height.) I think that should work out almost exactly as the first inspiration pic. If the trim on top of the opening to the TV room is at the same level as the top of the large window, you can wrap ship lap and trim from the new windows on around similar to the look in the insp. pic. Your focal FP and end wall would be all shiplap until you arrive above window and door level on the sides of the central FP breast that would go all the way to the ceiling. Ignore the slant.

It's the side of the house facing the neighbor's driveway. Nothing will be happening there. The fireplace is flush with the wall, so I thought maybe the cushions would be nice since they would sit almost in front of fireplace...... However, my husband just showed me that the fireplace isn't even centered on the wall! ugh

Maybe just close the window up think about a great surface material to take the FP to the ceiling.

If you have canvas art in the house, place it above mantel to see, for us to see? I wouldn't want another tall [and heavier looking than window] thing there. I'd consider heights: at top the window, a step down to top ledge of art, step down to something at left of fp....

Or fill it visually with 4 framed pieces, any, maybe this artist's?

Maybe a very tall plant in left corner... had these open - mist, etc... are 120" tall. Maybe a bit much pattern, but wall has focal fp, and other items could fade into the paint color, mostly...

I don't have anything in this house yet. As a matter of fact, I'm having my floors done upstairs so this living room is packed with furniture and boxes now. The fireplace is out and we ordered a gas insert. I like the idea of bringing fireplace up to the ceiling but have to find something nice - Like a pretty stone maybe.

Or to balance long rectangle, try long rectangle [of art] going horizontally over mantel.

It's all good - thought of seeing ahead of time, experiment with canvas art - or I suppose taping some paper or board in sizes you consider.

Your ceiling slopes... so my idea was to keep that lowering height going: with 'steps' of different heights....even a mirror.

I like the idea of 2 smaller windows either side of the fireplace

the outside pic shows the exterior wall as flat. the inside pic also show the interior was as flat? is the fireplace painted on wall? is it real?

Hi Stoveguyy, The outside is boarded up where the old fireplace unit was. Can you see the concrete slab from the photo? I recently noticed that my fireplace is not even centered in the room, and cannot be moved because we added an Egress window to the basement, right underneath those 2 long windows. Can you see the well in the photo? Any ideas about a new fireplace style, or adding a window to each side? Happy Thanksgiving!
