Help me!! Should I add shutters or stain the front door??
Comments (2)Yours is one house that can support even the most outrageously "out there" color on the front door and still look good, given the uniform charcoal color. A stain (if you buy a new door to put it on) would be too tame. Shutters would improve its appearance in its present state, but if it were mine, I would be more likely to try to use plantings to soften and fill the gaps. It also might benefit from a much larger and more decorative light next to the door....See MoreHelp! How to remove spray foam from black door frame
Comments (8)I have 9 black windows down stairs and all of them are covered in spray foam. I’ve tried acetone, but it also ate away my black paint on my vinyl windows. The only thing that works to remove just the spray foam is fingernail polish remover. You will use a lot of it and a lot of rags but it works well. It does take a bit of time and elbow grease fyi…but at least it doesn’t take the paint off. The windows where I used acetone, it made them very dull and left a white film so I am going to see if any of my car detailing products will work to shine my window back up. There is a lot of great products made for car vinyl to bring the black back. I haven’t gotten there yet but I’ll keep you posted if it gives it that brand new look back. Save yourself some time and headaches by using fingernail polish remover to remove spray foam from black windows!...See MoreShould I replace my white framed patio door with a black patio door?
Comments (20)I would be careful about the three-pane patio door you are considering. If the panes are too narrow (meaning if you are intending to decrease the size of the individual panes that you currently have, in favor of adding a third pane) the divide can end up looking like prison bars that block a lot of the incoming liight and obstruct your view due to added trim around the individual panes. Also, consider how you will dress the wider door for light control and privacy--patio doors are often a challenge. Your current patio door doesn't line up at the top with the window above the sink, and the window in the adjacent living room? Maybe a taller patio door would work better than wider patio doors? If you have two-lite windows in the adjoining room I would keep it consistant, both in color and number of lites.....See MoreNew Black Windows looking for ideas on shutters and garage door
Comments (1)Actually intended to say that I was thinking the trim should be a shade of white! Thanks!...See Morekarenandava
