Wendy, you are just too clever! I've looked at all the pretty bows at Dollar Tree many times trying to think of ways to use them--you came up with a really good idea! Comments (13)I love the idea of turning Christmas decorating into Winter Decorating and have been trying to practice that the last couple of years. Just don't know how you can get it into one picture. Just to give you an idea - some of my changes have been: *My door wreath is just pine with a few cones and a few berries and a red bow. I put it out after Thanksgiving and leave it up until March when I put out a Spring wreath. I think I am going to update the bow to a polk-a-dot! *One of my vignetes is gold and white with greenery and lights - love to leave it up until the end of January sometimes. *I like to use red birds, birds nests, berries, pine cones, etc. Just winter items. *I want to add a brass item or two - a deer, partridge or quail, etc. *Lots of white/clear lights that brighten things up AFTER Christmas. *Snowmen and Snowflakes are good winter decorations - but I personally don't like that idea - I just don't like snowmen - they look too Christmasy....See MoreI made up my 'deer' holiday mantle
Comments (11)Hi, tina, Sadly, these sconces are just for looking at. I didn't want to hard wire anything into that wall, as I change the decor over the mantle at least 4 times a year. What I did was take a fiberboard faux drip candlestick for each, and I actually put a chandelier socket in the top to hold a bulb; I just didn't wire it. The bulb holds the shade nicely. I am thinking of looking into flameless bulbs, but I don't think I'll be able to find one that the shade could grip. I haven't looked yet, so there may be some out there. I used two part epoxy to fasten the sconces to the plates, and just let it sit over night. You could put REAL candles it and light them if you didn't use shades. I thought about transferware plates, but decided that since all of mine have the design in the center, I didn't want to hide it. I had these plates on hand and I didn't want to go shopping, so I used what was here and they are perfect. I'm sure that you could find some plates that don't have a center design and they would be beautiful. I just used a wire plate hanger to hang them on the wall....See MoreBumblebeez SC Zone 7
