Hi Judy, thanks for the reply. There is no TV in this room (gasp!), only the fireplace. The dining room is around the corner and will also be painted gray wisp. I love the idea of black, I'll check it out.

Are accent walls still a thing?

Accent walls are still a "thing" if you like them. I do.

I'm not too worried about being trendy. I love the idea of adding depth to my room with different shades and hues.

Accent walls are fine as long as the change in paint color has a special purpose. They are not fine when paint is thrown up on wall, willy nilly, with no thought to actual design.

I like one behind a headboard; when a t v in on a wall and you want the t v to disappear (black, for instance), in a modern home, calling attention to an angled wall, to use as a backdrop for art, and if you are trying to make a room look wider or shorter.

And your ceiling is a wall…love a haint blue on ceilings.

I agree, JudyG, I love a painted ceiling! The purpose of our accent wall is to highlight a custom made mantel that will be replacing the rock faced mantel in the photos. I'm thinking about BM Raindance. It's just a shade or two darker than the Gray Wisp and in the same gray family.

Gray Wisp is a beautiful color, I used it in the master bedroom and laundry room of my last house. Be aware that it will likely read more blue-green than gray, in spite of the name of the color.

Thank you, Saypoint. I like how it changes color, it's one of the things I noticed when I painted splotches on my wall! Do you have a recommendation for an accent color? Have you got other paint colors in the rooms?
