My dog is Making me a Crazy person
Comments (22)I was watching a show about dogs that do this type of ocd thing and the treatment involved redirecting the behaviour, by giving the dog other activities to focus on, such as exercise, throwing a ball, or hiding food or toys for the dogs to search out (either around the house or in the yard - depending on what motivates your dog). It gives them something interesting to do and gets their mind working on something constructive. over time the dogs did reduce their ocd behaviour dramatically. It didn't work to tell them to stop, you have to change the behaviour by getting their mind engaged in something they find more interesting and using treats to reward them when they redirect their attention or behaviour to a game instead but each of the owners had to put in a lot of time to redirecting that behaviour....See MoreMy dog is making me crazy
Comments (14)Moonie, just because Toni doesn't want her peeing everywhere, doesn't mean she doesn't care deeply for the dog. What chance does this dog have of being adopted, if sent to a shelter? I can tell you....zero. Or so close to zero. And it would be much more stressful on her to leave home. Sounds to me like she is doing everything she can. I hope the Belly Bands solve the problem. Good luck to you, Toni. I take care of animals all day long. I don't have much time for anything else, and I think anything else would be the straw that broke the camel's back. I found a dog on the road a few weeks ago....I thought it was a boxer. I picked it up because I had passed by it for two days, watching it run first one way and then another....looking for someone or something familiar. I thought the boxer rescue would take her....since she isn't a boxer, no. I took her to the humane society but they were so over full, I didn't have the heart to leave her there. And so now I have a dog to deal with that tears up stuff, tries to catch chickens, wants to chase the pigs. She is a full time job in herself. I think if I had raised her, she would be a good dog, and I hope she will eventually be, but it is all time consuming and I don't have a lot of time, but we trudge on. ;)...See MoreHelp me pick (fix) a color for my laundry room?
Comments (8)Thanks for the confirmation that it's just too much. ;) And isn't my kitten adorable? He was a big helper, too - sat on the same step I was on while I was painting, until I locked him out so I could finish that area. I called the appliance delivery folks and was told they would be at my house at around 11:30 am. So, I ran over the HD and grabbed some primer and new paint...and JUST as they were mixing in the color, I got the call (at 10:35) that they'd be at my house in 15 minutes. Rushed home, and beat them by about three minutes (small town = no traffic). That's when we discovered that our slab for the W&D is a bit too short - the feet for both appliances rest right at the edge, and these are about 4 inches longer than our former pair. So, the color is the least of my concerns - now I have to make sure the appliances are balanced, and hope they don't wander... When the room is finished, I'll post pictures. Could be a few days. Oh - the color I chose - I really liked Key Lime on Behr's website (as someone above suggested), but I didn't like the paint chip at all. I opted for Carolina Parakeet, which is lighter than the current color, but still not a 'light' color. I think I can pull it off w/ white blinds, perhaps a white (or blue?) valance, and some black-framed pictures on the wall. And if not, I'm painting the room white again and getting colorful curtains. ;)...See MoreIs having a laundry room off the master bedroom a crazy idea?
Comments (12)I like weedys's idea of putting the laundry where the master toilet was, recessing the door to the master bedroom to allow for a door into the new laundry, and then sorting out your master bathroom and closet space because all you're doing there is swapping floor space. You don't have to deal with exterior walls and window locations. I'll toss this idea out. Move the laundry over to where the linen closet was and move the linen closet across so it backs up to the stairway. Bedroom closets go behind the laundry. You could also move the kids' bathroom to where I have the new laundry. With the bathroom layout adjusted of course. Then move the washer and dryer to where the tub is in the old kid's bathroom. In that laundry you could even keep the toilet and sink for a laundry/half-bath....See Moremiss lindsey (She/Her)
