Comments (18)I had my Dachshund on diet dog food and she seemed to be straving all the time. Also seemed to have to go #2 A LOT! That is because most diet dog food is made with fillers so didn't last long in the digestive tract and it was like being on a high fiber diet. She also had quite a bit of gas. I talked to the vet and switched her to Eukanuba Dachshund. It is specifically made for that breed. I don't if that is true but she likes it. She also gets lots of carrots and other veggies when she begs. No more treats! And I cut back her portions. She can't go on long walks because she has a weak front leg that collapses if she walks too much. Clare...See MoreDog with cancer, I am losing him.
Comments (63)Words will not really convey our Thanks to all of you for the support you have given over the past 11 days but they will have to do.THANK YOU. You have been there for me during my highs and lows, my hopes and my fears. My husband and I sat down last night and just remembered TJ and all the silly things he has done. I sat my husband down at the computer and had him read each post here, we both cried some more at TJ's picture that I posted, having him read really helped, hubby does not use the computer and has a hard time understanding why people who dont even know us would offer such wonderful support and encouragment, But I do.. it is because we are all in love with our animals and when one is in pain or sick we gather around and build a protective bubble so the pet and person will have a soft place to fall. Tasha misses him the most I think, TJ and Tash, were the very best of buddies, she knew he was passing and she laid by his side thru the entire process. When we laid TJ to rest I had to restrain her from jumping into the grave, and afterwards she laid for a long time on the grave. I will always remember TJ with love and admiration for the strength and dignity that he showed right to the end. I know he is playing with D.O.G. and he will be waiting at the bridge with that little nub of a tail wagging as hard as it can, until that day comes my memories will have to do....See MoreLoving and Losing A Dog
Comments (14)I'm so sorry about your precious boy. I think some people grieve more over losing our pets than losing our fellow humans. And there is nothing wrong with that. My parents lost two of their dogs this year. One in April the other in August. To this day my dad is still grieving. One of their dogs had cancer, the other had liver problems and went downhill very quickly. The had two other young dogs at the time but that didn't help the pain. My dad recently adopted two puppies, one of which is almost a spitting image of one of the dog that died of cancer. When I was there for thanksgiving, seeing this dog reminded me so much of Petey the one they lost) that I cried and its been since April that he passed away. My dad orginally called the new puppy Little Pete and my mom made him change his name because it was too similiar to the dog they lost. I know this doesn't help much now, but you have all those wonderful memories with your boy and think of what a great life you gave him. He was a very lucky dog and I'm sure he knew how much he was loved....See MoreDogs Losing Their Favorite Spot - Please Help
Comments (94)Thanks for the nice comments. I'm adding a pic that shows a swatch of the cushion fabric with an accent pillow on my rug. The tweed fabric ties in the rusts and golds. Unfortunately, the sheen on the cloth seems to turn it to more of a coral & tangerine in my pics. It is more subdued IRL, but they do add a color punch that works all 4 seasons. Confession - My dogs haven't been on them yet. As some here predicted, they found other good spots to scout outdoors when the furniture got changed out. Puck does his lookout from the sofa in the upstairs TV room and Riley hangs with me & watches birds & squirrels on the back deck. If they jump up on the new cushions I'll let them. But if they don't seem interested I probably won't encourage it. The window benches have already proved their worth, even without the cushions. My DS made a surprise visit home when he was in the U.S. on business and we had a big family dinner. The fruit trees and lilac bushes were in bloom and people loved perching on the benches by the open windows to catch the scents. For Lyban, the dogs are brother/sister littermate mini labradoodles. Turning 12 this year but still acting like pups! And, they did end up keeping their favorite loveseat! I convinced DH to move it in to their finished basement "dog room" (which is also DH's exercise room). We had to remove a cabinet to make it fit so DH had to rewire the TV & mount it to the wall. All's well that ends well ;)...See Morefourpawsonetail
