did anyone in the Kendall, NY area lose a dog?
Comments (5)Some of the local papers will put a free found ad in for you as a public service so make a couple of calls. It sounds to me like she was left by the owner there and was sitting in the same spot waiting to get picked back up :( Our local shelter is fussy about the animals they take in and won't take an aggressive dog. You might have to try adopting her out yourself. (Try freecycle in your area). If you do go the route of adopting her out yourself, you'll have to take the time to really screen the people. It's hard to find a suitable home for a pitbull where the animal will be cared for correctly. Do exercise a bit of caution with a new animal. We adopted an adorable cat that was abandonded. The nicest disposition ...until she got comfortable in our home. She turned out to be very nasty which is why she got dumped in the first place, I'm sure. Good luck and let us know how she makes out!...See MoreDog with cancer, I am losing him.
Comments (63)Words will not really convey our Thanks to all of you for the support you have given over the past 11 days but they will have to do.THANK YOU. You have been there for me during my highs and lows, my hopes and my fears. My husband and I sat down last night and just remembered TJ and all the silly things he has done. I sat my husband down at the computer and had him read each post here, we both cried some more at TJ's picture that I posted, having him read really helped, hubby does not use the computer and has a hard time understanding why people who dont even know us would offer such wonderful support and encouragment, But I do.. it is because we are all in love with our animals and when one is in pain or sick we gather around and build a protective bubble so the pet and person will have a soft place to fall. Tasha misses him the most I think, TJ and Tash, were the very best of buddies, she knew he was passing and she laid by his side thru the entire process. When we laid TJ to rest I had to restrain her from jumping into the grave, and afterwards she laid for a long time on the grave. I will always remember TJ with love and admiration for the strength and dignity that he showed right to the end. I know he is playing with D.O.G. and he will be waiting at the bridge with that little nub of a tail wagging as hard as it can, until that day comes my memories will have to do....See MoreDog wont go in Dog House!! Comments (20)Scenario: A rainy night in Georgia. "Dog" owns the best big dog house that money can buy. "Dog" needs to be trained how to use "her new dog house!" At this pivotal moment our family dog does not understand her new dog house at all! I truly believe she assumes that I purchased this dog house to annoy her. She looks at the dog house as if it were a giant germ. My family and I all have severe allergies, but fortunately we reside in the subtropical area of the US. So the weather is moderate throughout the year, which makes it wonderful for our pet. She is allowed to come in for a short period, but not for long. My mission is to apply a carry-kennel door to the entry door of her dog house, then put her in her new house and shut the kennel door. I plan to sit and talk to her to make her feel comfortable in her new house, then take her out after several minutes. But if she becomes bothered, I will try another day. I plan to work with her till she understands her new dog house is safe, and she becomes comfortable enough to go into her new dog house "by herself!" Got my fingers crossed! I'll let you know if my little experiment works in the weeks to come... And of course if she does good, I will give her a treat....See MoreLoving and Losing A Dog
Comments (14)I'm so sorry about your precious boy. I think some people grieve more over losing our pets than losing our fellow humans. And there is nothing wrong with that. My parents lost two of their dogs this year. One in April the other in August. To this day my dad is still grieving. One of their dogs had cancer, the other had liver problems and went downhill very quickly. The had two other young dogs at the time but that didn't help the pain. My dad recently adopted two puppies, one of which is almost a spitting image of one of the dog that died of cancer. When I was there for thanksgiving, seeing this dog reminded me so much of Petey the one they lost) that I cried and its been since April that he passed away. My dad orginally called the new puppy Little Pete and my mom made him change his name because it was too similiar to the dog they lost. I know this doesn't help much now, but you have all those wonderful memories with your boy and think of what a great life you gave him. He was a very lucky dog and I'm sure he knew how much he was loved....See Moreamck2
