Show me your tile floors...
Comments (15)I'm watching this space, too. Kitchen is done but the bathroom will be next. I want something spectacular in there. I'll spend the money, the floor to be WOWed is only 56 feet. The walk in shower takes up quite a bit of space and I don't care what my carpenter does in there ;-) I've looked at Duraceramic, cork, bamboo, ceramic, that recycled rubbber stuff @ $4.50 a foot, and vinyl. Right now, I'm thinking a parquet or medallion floor made out of vinyl. The tile nearly froze me the other morning. Quickly stepped off it back onto the vinyl floor. If I don't do the ceramic I will save $700 on the under tile heating stuff. That would give me a REAL nice floor made out of something else. My carpenter can do anything and although I doubt he'll jump up and down with joy when I suggest a fancy vinyl floor, I bet he would come up with something I'd like. The Family Handyman Nov. 2009 cover had a Pergo floor with granite corners and something else in a real light color as banding. I kept that cover open on my desk for months. Who knows? Maybe he'll like it as much as I do!...See MoreShow me your cork or other kitchen flooring with busy granite
Comments (5)I don't have photos, but we will have natural cherry shaker cabinets, and golden crystal granite, which I consider busy. We wanted cork flooring as well. I was also concerned with it being too busy, but when we took samples in to the granite yard to hold next to our slab, we ended up choosing wicanders originals, symphony color. Remember the granite will be horizontal, and not right up against the floor. Even if we would have gone with natural wood floors, there would still be some natural variation. I would also check out marmoleum as an option. Not sure if it comes in planks, but its also easy on legs and backs, and comes in tons of color options....See MoreNeed help for flooring choice - show me your floors!
Comments (5)My son has installed Amtico vinyl by Mannington. He thinks that is a good product. I have a wood look laminate plank floor. It is very nice but I am careful with it. If it gets wet it can warp. Depends on were your putting it. It is easy to install. We are going to remodel in spring and am really considering Amtico vinyl plank. Durable, can handle water and grand kids, dog and cat. It is also a less expensive choice for us....See MoreTile Floor (can you show me yours?) in KITCHEN
Comments (5)Well, unfortunately, my kitchen is in no condition for public display at the moment, ha! But here is a picture of almost exactly how they look. I will note that we have grout that matches the tiles better than the grout in this picture, and the grout lines are very thin. I don't have white cabinets, they're more a medium wood, with black counters (I would change my cabinets, if I could--but that's not happening right now!). We got all new floors a few years ago, and this limestone blended everything, while still looking nice with the cabinets we have. We got blond wood floors over most of the living areas, but the tile in the kitchen. One thing I have come to appreciate about the limestone, is that there are many different neutral colors within each tile, but the overall effect is pretty consistent. Some of the white-is specks/spots here and there are actually fossils--which in my mind makes it really interesting....See Morevivaceconbrio
