Show me your cork or other kitchen flooring with busy granite

Hi all,

This post will hopefully help with both my kitchen as well as my sisters kitchen remodel.

We both have similar colors going on and are both having a hard time choosing a floor that won't clash with busy granite.

She has Giallo Ornamental and we have New Romano which is very similar but with more white/cream in it.

We both have dark cabinets.

They are looking at floating floors and I have suggested cork as the laminate woods have a grain that would comptete with both the granite and wood grain in the cabinets.

The ones that look like stone all seem too busy to me as well and just remind me of a sponge painted wall and don't get me started on the grout lines competing with the backsplashes....UGH.

Hoping to see some pictures of a light color cork flooring but any and all photos will help.

(Here is an image of what I'm liking but can't seem to find many pictures of these types in a kitchen).

I don't have photos, but we will have natural cherry shaker cabinets, and golden crystal granite, which I consider busy. We wanted cork flooring as well. I was also concerned with it being too busy, but when we took samples in to the granite yard to hold next to our slab, we ended up choosing wicanders originals, symphony color. Remember the granite will be horizontal, and not right up against the floor.
Even if we would have gone with natural wood floors, there would still be some natural variation. I would also check out marmoleum as an option. Not sure if it comes in planks, but its also easy on legs and backs, and comes in tons of color options.

Am I allowed to post photos of a kitchen that isn't mine anymore? I think so...

Counters are Bianco Antico, Floor is Cork. USFloors. The color is Corte.

Actually, I already have tile and I don't have a problem with it. I'm not crazy about what I have, so I'm thinking about replacing it with something more updated. mtnrdredux - For a long time I felt like I would get travertine when I got around to replacing my floors. When it came down to it, I decided I didn't want to deal with sealing it. chispa - I don't think I've ever seen that brand. Annie - I love the look of your floors. It reminds me of the smooth travertine floors as opposed to the rustic type. I've been looking for something with a calm pattern similar to dedtired's floors, but yet enough pattern and color to hide dirt. I found one I like, but I'm thinking it may look more busy than what I initially thought I wanted. The variation is a 4, which is the highest number. Looking at one tile, it's not overly busy, but who knows once the whole floor is laid. I really like the darker color, but I think the lighter color looks better with my countertop.

hi Katie - Re: the cost of install on the pinwheel pattern... in my limited experience I would say - depends. We interviewed 2 KD for the project. One said a pattern would increase the cost the other said a pattern didn't matter - once the installer gets the patern down it is the same as a grid. We hired the KD that said no extra charge (not for that particular reason). There are tile pros that visit this board so if you started a new thread to ask their opinion they may respond.

Hello, I don't have oak cabinets, mine are maple in a medium tone. But here is my kitchen with Wilsonarte HD laminate counters. I have corian on my island. I think about later upgrading the laminate to another surface, however I've had laminate for years and I love how easy it is to care for. It always looks nice and never stains. I love the look of granite, soapstone, etc...but I love how easy my counters are to care for. Replacing my laminate counters is way down on the priority list for me, if ever. Elaine

This isn't my kitchen, but I saved it to my inspiration file because of the cork floor.
