Houzz Adds New Kitchen Features to Its Houzz Pro 3D Floor Planner
The new features help clients visualize their finished kitchen with 3D models that show cabinetry, appliances and more
Houzz has introduced new kitchen features to its Houzz Pro 3D Floor Planner that make the design process smoother and easier. These features help pros communicate their vision and help homeowners anticipate how their kitchen will look when work is complete.
With the updated tool, pros can create detailed 2D floor plans and 3D models that include kitchen cabinetry, appliances, sinks, faucets and more. Pros can show, for example, how a new island, cabinet style or countertop material would look in the space, enabling homeowners to more easily imagine the finished design.

Customize Cabinet Style, Finish and Layout
Cabinetry plays a major role in a kitchen’s look, and being able to visualize the style and layout is key for communicating a design to a client. With the new features, pros can now select from an extensive library of cabinet and drawer configurations, panel styles, paint colors and wood finishes. They can choose hardware and customize kitchen islands.
“There’s so much selection when it comes to the cabinets,” says Lindsay Floyd, designer and purchaser at kitchen and bath remodeler Kimber Homes. Using the Houzz Pro 3D Floor Planner, Floyd can quickly create multiple versions of a kitchen project. “Clients can see all of the possibilities for their kitchen and the varying costs of each before making a decision. They feel like they know exactly what they’re getting,” Floyd says.
Adding cabinets to a plan is simple. Pros can select base cabinets, islands, tall cabinets and wall cabinets, choosing from among a selection of standard sizes and configurations to suit a project’s needs. Cabinets are easy to drag and drop into place. In the dollhouse view, pros can then select panel styles, wood finishes and paint colors — choosing from thousands of Benjamin Moore shades — and apply these properties to multiple cabinets at once.
For hardware, they can choose from a range of knob, handle and pull styles. The tool features a variety of material and finish options, which can be mixed and matched within the kitchen.
“With these new features, pros can more easily collaborate with their client, helping them make more confident decisions on overall cabinet layout, finishes and common customizations,” Huang says.

Showcase Countertop Details
The updated tool also allows pros to customize countertops, giving clients a realistic look at a project’s surface details. Pros can showcase countertop material and edge style.
Applying countertop selections is easy. “Pros can customize counters by selecting or multi-selecting the cabinets they want to apply the counter to and selecting the styles that match their vision,” Huang says.

Add a Refrigerator, Range and Other Appliances
Pros can also add appliances to their designs, selecting from refrigerators, dishwashers, cooktops, microwaves, ranges and hoods in a variety of styles and sizes.
With the new 3D Floor Planner kitchen features, pros can now give clients a more complete picture of their remodeled spaces. These features build upon the existing Houzz Pro tool, which allows pros to choose floor materials and pick wall colors. “We’ve heard many pros ask for these features and are excited to share this update so they can create more detailed designs for their clients,” Huang says.
Adds Floyd: “Being able to show our clients a 3D floor plan of their project helps them to envision their life in the space, which makes the entire process move forward more smoothly.”
