Need a tree for a small lot
Comments (6)Dogwoods do not have to get tired looking at all! You just need the right cultivar. Crepes can get very tired looking, many get mildew, are attacked by japanese beetles and frankly, so many streets are absolutely lined with them, they get very boring. Again, with crepe's you need to be careful of the cultivar you choose. One that has fall color and exfoliating foliage is a great idea. They do need more selective pruning than many other trees. To be able to garden well under them you need to make sure and keep the canopy open by selectively pruning cross branches. The interior can become a very tangled mess of cross branches. Vitex is another very good choice. I have one, and it blooms twice a year. GGG...See MoreNeed LOTS of ideas/help gathering space Lots of Pics
Comments (3)What a gorgeous home! And I LOVE the fabric. If the chairs are good quality and comfortable, I'd definitely do it. Twelve yds is probably not enough for four chairs, but people has posted examples here of mixing fabrics on chairs, and it can look great. For example, use the japan-inspired fabric on the backs of chair, and use another fabric for heavy-use cushions and inside back. Once you add a coffee table and rug, I think the scale will look more reasonable. Re: bar for six, you could roughly double the depth of the bar and add a seat at either end. Of course, that would involve some cost, but not much if choose e.g. wood as the top piece. Depending on how much room you need to walk behind the bar, you might even be able to do something larger, with a curve to it....See More1st time poster - need kitchen advice (lots of pics)
Comments (9)gl - thanks for suggestions. Agree, that wood strip will ease the pain! Agree the backsplash is too busy. I think my challenge is complex because it not only has to work with a granite with tons of movement, it also has to work with my wallpaper. Not easy. As for a sink - a trusted friend, who is a real estate agent and see tons of kitchens, told about Swanstone and Blanco granite type sinks. She said they just disappear into the granite. I like them but probably leaning more towards stainless for the "safe" factor. yes, I will do an undermount. I do not have well water. Now I am concerned about my cooktop ventilation. I need to review with my contractor rebuilding my island! Of the colors in the mult-color backsplash - should I go more gold, more taupe, more brown - help. I am worst at decorating and color!...See Moresmall kitchen upgrade— needs lot of help
