johnatemp, you're right, I don't want to move the tv. That alcove next to the fireplace is really too small for the tv. Besides, there are cables coming from all over the house that get wired to the stereo that is with the tv. I had thought many times that I would like to make the area where the eating area is move of a lounge area. There are really too many doors in that area to make it a very cozy area. I have another area next to the kitchen that I'm doing that instead (and bigger). I have thought about removing the leaf in the table to make it smaller to fit the space better. Most of the time there is only 4 of us eating. Chris, the rug is situated the same way it was in the old location. I have it setting back a bit so that the lamp cord can hide under it and remove the trip hazard. I like the idea of the sofa table under the window. That statue is over 50 lbs, so I need help with that one (and we were in a hurry to go furniture shopping). I got some pretty good ideas while I was out. I'm thinking instead of a sectional, maybe an oversized chair with a couch or love seat? Either way, I'll only have seating for about 4 people (the corner in a sectional is pretty lost). I did find a curved sectional I liked, but it still only seated 4. I'm going to work on the end where the chair and ottoman are along with the table and chairs to see if I can come up with some more room. I'll take some more pictures and post when I'm done to see what you think. Also, any light recommendations for the table where the recliners are? I'd like to have something that doesn't sit on the table, but still worked as task lighting. The guys do play chess there frequently, so I need something that doesn't sit on the table, but will still give hoof task light. You're also right, Chris. I'm trying to get away from the log or cabin feel, and more or a transitional feel and try to accessorize with our horse "stuff". Robbi

I didn't comment on the shower curtain, because I was a bit confused. By needing an extra long curtain, I didn't know if you meant height or width? I assumed you meant floor to ceiling, but if so, how would a standard liner work, but not a standard curtain? I assumed you were using an L bracket rod mounted at standard height (looks like a standard shower/tub enclosure)? But maybe not?! Are you planning to mount a ceiling rod? Sorry, I'm just not following ,,, Well regardless, here are a few comments: 1) My number one priority would be to properly manage moisture (keep as dry as possible). 2) If at possible, I would first look to using a standard (72x72) curtain (it will be cheaper, you will have more options, and you can more easily change up the look). 3) Start with a good liner mounted at the proper height (not too short and not too long) that doesn't fly around. 4) Whatever I hung in that area, I would want it to be moisture/mildew resistent, provide ventilation/wicking, have rust proof hardware, etc As such, I would first look to a quality shower curtain, which are available in taller lengths. If looking at drapes, I would probably start with indoor/outdoor drapes. Regarding your question on the door, I would probably paint it white/neutral (or faux pine) because I would not want the door to be a focal point, but rather have it blend in. As far as color scheme ,,, on my monitor the tile looks like it has blue undertones, so maybe blue rugs and towels (with a couple of red accent towels), a pattern shower curtain (e.g. a tartan plaid with blue, gray, red, and browns). What a great house! You have wonderful pieces to use in there, too. I love the gateleg table in the foyer, tho I can't tell how it sits in the overall space. Not crazy about the square rug- would love to see a round rug underneath instead at some point. Not loving the other table and little chair in the corner, tho. It feels like too many skinny legs, in the space. Also, I think that corner could use something taller to balance the fireplace I think I see in the foyer. Any chance you could shoot a pix from the entry so we could see the entry hall from that perspective? I am thinking the secretary would work in that corner, flat against the wall with the pix, and then a chair sitting at an angle at the open desk. Okay, just asking now, but I am wondering if you have considered flipping the music room and the living room? I would love to see the piano sitting in the bay window space of that room. Then the wingback chairs sitting where the two upholstered chairs are now in the room. The tall white cabinet would be a nice color balance for the dark piano and chairs. Then move the upholstered chairs to either side of the fireplace in the current music room, the couch opposite and perhaps toward the entry hall side of the room a bit. Then use the two wood desk chairs in the corner area where the secretary is currently, ideally with a table so that they have the feel of a game table area. Then move around the small tables you have to use by the seating, add lamps, etc. Hard to specifically suggest without seeing how the big pieces play in the room.

Thank you all for posting. I just never thought of this idea as that radical, lol! Actually it was DHs idea. I was (still am) more nervous about the paint color clashing with what will be in the kitchen. pesky1, No WT, none needed. Wonderful sunshine comes in that window most of the day. I have left over grout in various colors so I'm going to play around with adding color to one. DH will build the frame out of wood or cement board. Then we will tile that. No tile will touch the wall except the edge of the tile on the sides. Hope that makes sense. In our master bath (posted on the bathroom forum) I used a metal tile edge for the mosiac tile around the bath tub. Won't need that for this project. One more question, if your still with me...Can I paint the ceiling green? Or would a lighter color be better? When this is done good or bad I will post photos. Thanks, Debra
