Down to the Ge cafe double ovens French door or the Bosch benchmark He
Comments (9)I have no idea what your question is but I will assume you are debating between the Bosch Benchmark Side Opening Oven versus the GE French Door oven. I just finished a remodel and I considered the side opening oven as well as French door models. As I recall, the least expensive French Door model was the GC Cafe and it was a tad more expensive than the Bosch Benchmark Side Opening Oven. I went with the Bosch Side Opening oven because I liked having one door that swing all the way to the side and therefore I could stand in front of the oven and not have any obstruction at all in terms of the landing spot on the counter next to the oven. The French Door ovens definitely have a coolness factor in terms of "looks" since everyone can tell you have a French door oven while most people have no idea that you have a super functional side door oven. In terms of comparing ergonomic functionality, there is NO COMPARISON between side opening or French door ovens and standard bottom opening ovens since you can stand directly in front of the oven versus having to stand at the side to load and unload. When I was buying my oven, Bosch was the only side opening oven but my friend who is now in the market for ovens told me that Thermador has a model which is slightly more expensive than the equivalent Bosch. I believe Thermador is a sister company of Bosch....See MoreGE Cafe French door double wall oven. Would this bother you?
Comments (57)To those who asked: Yes….You can easily remove the copper cuff from the handle. We bought stainless Wolf/Sub-Zero/Cove appliances with “Pro“ handles for our kitchen, but wanted the amazing Cafe Advantium microwave (with Pro handles) for the coffee bar area in the kitchen. We do love the Advantium. However, we were disappointed the emblem/cuff was copper instead of stainless, and there isnt even a stainless cuff option available for special order. The company claims this copper cuff was intentionally designed & ”jewelry inspired”. The copper cuff clashed with our other Pro handles, so we removed the cuff in five minutes with two allen wrenches. Looks much better now and matches our other appliance handles. Monogram/Cafe should offer the option of a discrete stainless cuff. Not everyone wants ”jewelry” on their appliance handles....See MoreShould I get one Cafe French door oven OR Monogram double wall ovens?
Comments (25)I concur with boschboy! I have Thermador double wall ovens and have used both ovens for many years. The advantage of a French door (for a top oven) is in insering/removing very heavy (cast iron Le Creuset 9.5 quart) cookware from the upper oven's middle shelf. Those who are shorter will appreciate being able to get closer to the upper racks when inserting/removing items rather than stretching across the open oven door. I use my double wall ovens to bake six pans of cookies/pastries/pies simultaneously, or to make a large roast in one and many side dishes/desserts in the second wall oven. I bake breads, frequently, and in addition to the double wall ovens, regularly use the warming drawer to proof breads/keep plated meals at the correct temperature, etc. I have experienced back problems and would never have a range, requiring me to bend that far when baking/cooking. I also prefer have electric wall ovens and my gas cooktop....See MoreCafe French Door Oven over 5 in 1 oven
Comments (13)Kat, Maybe roast small turkeys and use lightweight cook ware and you should be fine. Ha Ha I have lots of heavy cook ware in addition to cooking huge turkeys. Once you have back surgery you have to make compromises in every aspect of your life. When I was young and strong I lifted everything because I was strong but obviously stupid. I've paid dearly for that. Now I'm what they refer to as "elderly" God I hate that:)) but whenever I'm lifting something, someone comes rushing to aid the elderly woman without me having to ask for help. Something for you to look forward to. Ha Ha Inga...See MoreMarielena
