GE Cafe Single French Door wall oven
Comments (5)Mark Ellis, that is the problem I had when I wanted to replace my defective KitchenAid double ovens but my Refrigerator was on the left side and too close to the wall oven cabinet. We are building a new house and I was going to order the French Door double ovens--french door on top and regular oven on bottom but it weighs almost 400 lbs. I realized that if I tried to put two single french door wall ovens as stackable even if GE allowed it--the top one would be too high and the bottom would be too low. I was also going to put my microwave above one french door ovens and put the other french door oven where I was going to put the microwave but I read that they don't recommend that either. Even if that would work, the second oven would be too close. This is kind of like I was going to do it before I decided that I wanted to change appliance placement....See MoreShould I get one Cafe French door oven OR Monogram double wall ovens?
Comments (25)I concur with boschboy! I have Thermador double wall ovens and have used both ovens for many years. The advantage of a French door (for a top oven) is in insering/removing very heavy (cast iron Le Creuset 9.5 quart) cookware from the upper oven's middle shelf. Those who are shorter will appreciate being able to get closer to the upper racks when inserting/removing items rather than stretching across the open oven door. I use my double wall ovens to bake six pans of cookies/pastries/pies simultaneously, or to make a large roast in one and many side dishes/desserts in the second wall oven. I bake breads, frequently, and in addition to the double wall ovens, regularly use the warming drawer to proof breads/keep plated meals at the correct temperature, etc. I have experienced back problems and would never have a range, requiring me to bend that far when baking/cooking. I also prefer have electric wall ovens and my gas cooktop....See MoreFrench door oven next to french door refrigerator
Comments (9)@jackowskib - thanks for the quick comment and kind words! I am considering shifting the fridge over. I'm waiting to hear just how much space we can stick in between the fridge and the wall to be sure I can open the fridge doors past 90°. The last thing I want is to limit access to the drawers inside. I have the same opinion about the bottom freezers actually. There are 2 models that I've seen that do a better job of capturing most of the space and they include a separate (can be opened w/o opening french doors) refrigeration/custom temp drawer. Those are the reasons I've added them to my consideration list. Also, we're going to have a small freezer in the house so I've got a little additional freezer storage available. That section of cabinet to the right on the counter will either be open or have a bifold door that opens to the right. Apparently those stay-open hinges are quite expensive!...See MoreSamsung Duo Flex oven--any experience with this? Or Cafe 2 oven range
Comments (14)We have had the electric Samsung flex oven for 6 years and I don’t recommend it. I am actually calling them today about an ongoing door issue. Within weeks of getting this they replaced it for us because the front edge of the stovetop got so hot you could almost burn yourself. The replacement is the same but I’ve just learned to live with it. Standing at the stove top while the oven is on is much hotter than it should be. The door doesn’t seal properly which Is most noticeable when it’s positioned as one large oven. The light blinks on and off constantly as the door isn’t tight. Perhaps it’s fixed with newer models? Our house is antique and had multiple additions done to the kitchen so we don’t have one long wall for 2 ovens which is what my preference would have been. 90% of the time we use the small upper only and we don’t notice the door issue and it heats quickly, which I like. But for temperature sensitive cakes, keeping the pizza stone hot enough, etc we find the full space works best. There have only been a few times were the limitations on temperatures using both ovens was an issue. I would describe our lifestyle like yours - 2 of us and I cook everything from scratch daily....See MoreShalonda
