It was put in about mid August, a month too late. I live in the DFW area Well you were more than a month late to seed Bermuda. Normally here in North TX right about now would be the time to get it done, but not this year. The weather has not warmed up enough yet. Wait a week or two, or until the day temps are hitting 90 consistently. Then get it down if you need too. However if the bare or thin spots are small in diameter, say a foot or two, they will fill in on there own. To encourage that to happen do just what you should to prepare for seeding. Loosen the the soil up, mix in some compost (Back To Earth is great), and keep the area moist. IF you want rip up some sprigs from other areas and plant them to help fill in quickly.

Did you read my post? Using a preemergent in the late summer when soil temps are above 70 F is a good idea mainly to prevent poa annua germination. Lawn burn is usually caused by the fertilizer portion of weed and feed products, but those are generally post emergent herbicide/fertilizer combinations that need to remain on the lawn for a while without watering in. You should always water in fertilizer and fertilizer/preemergent combinations. There are several preemergents on the market you can buy that don't include fertilizer. I seeded KBG on 8/30 and today, after 4 mowings, could not resist applying Weed-B-Gon as a spot treatment to take out the young clover, spurge, curly dock, dandelions and other unidentified weeds. I am confident that it will take out the still tender broadleafs without harming the grass, but will let you know if that doesn't work out.

My landscaper said I had to wait for the new grass to be mowed 4x prior to application earlier in the year. Quick question, who did you end up with for your patio door. I am located near you and was recommended the same poorly reviewed company.
