Disgusted.

I visited my local Lowe's hardware store yesterday and was appalled to see several young plants for sale which were obviously grown for lush oversized leaf growth (dark green leaves indicates to me a lack of sun exposure. The branches had been forced to grow vertically and close together (probably to pack many plants together in a small space). The potting medium

did not appear to be a fast draining mix - resembled a peat-based one. They were priced very cheaply for $7.98 (U.S.A.). All this suggests to me that the grower either doesn't have a clue how Adeniums should look and be grown and just wants to market them as leafy, tropical plants to the uninitiated public. I can't argue with the low price but I do wonder how well the plants will survive this kind of plant culture. Has anyone successfully grown Adeniums in this way?
