We had to mount the control to the front from lack of clearance with backsplash, no problem with us. The sink finish is polished, so it will show water spots if you don't wipe it down. We use the grids for the bottom to prevent scratches from heavy pots etc. Everything considered, we love it, everyone that has seen it thinks it is just beautiful, but the 10" depth is probably not for everyone.

Kraus 30", the one you ordered: Kraus 32", the one you didn't order: What size is your sink base? If your sink base is 33", then the 30" sink is just right for it. If it's 36", then it's bigger than necessary and space you might rather use in adjacent cabinets. Mostly what I think is that if you were attracted to the first one for decor reasons, then that is what you should do. I agree that 30" vs 32" is probably not critical. It may have been me that said that the 32", which I have and love, doesn't drain as well as it might, but that is in comparison to my old sink which had a steeper slope. That slope made me crazy because the Kitchen Aid Mixer bowl wouldn't stand up on that slope and dumped the bowl over every time I used it. The Kraus comes with a sink grid which would negate the falling over factor, but in any case the bottom isn't sloped so steeply that it would be a problem. I liked the steeper slope for more vigorous drainage, but the shallower slope of the the 32" Kraus drains just fine, just not so - vigorously.

Rust appears on stainless steel when something like steel wool pads like Brillo are used. The steel wool leaves tiny particles behind which sit on top of the stainless steel and rust. The stainless steel itself is not rusting. The rust can be easily removed with Barkeepers Friend. You should never use steel wool pads to clean your stainless steel sink. Other culprits for rust in a stainless steel sink are metal cans or metal utensils left to sit in the sink which leave a rust mark. Some people's water has a lot of iron in it which can appear as orange-y spots on the sink. Again, all easily removed with Bar Keepers Friend. Kraus gets good reviews on this forum. If stainless steel's tendency--regardless of brand--to show rust, water marks, scratches, etc will bother you, look into other types of sinks like Blanco Silgranit or Kohler enameled cast iron.

As stated above, Franke makes terrific sinks. Have had mine almost four years now. The corners have rounded cutouts so it’s easy to chase bits of food, into the drain. Mine has an offset center drain, meaning it’s in the center rear of the sink, so large pots or pans don’t cover it. With any stainless sink, I recommend getting a stainless rack, which will help avoid scratching, and raises the dirty dishes, and allows the water to drain. Most have racks that are made for a particular sink. I got my Franke grid on Amazon.
