Kraus 32' vs 30' stainless steel sink

Hi everyone

We've zeroed in finally on a single bowl sink. Kraus. We've just placed the order on amazon for The 30" inch generously curved or the regular types sink.

The other option was this one with low radius curve and. 120 buck more but I could get 32" which also fits my 33" cabinet.

Now am thinking if I did the right thing, if I should've gone with the 32" :(

My choice was made due the look in the final product picture with the traditional style standing out much better vs the modern one. Even though we did like the modern one initially.

Second, I saw comments that the 2nd one might be too flat and doesn't drain water naturally easily.

Lastly we thought 30 would be good enough size.

What should I do?

Also if the first one was in 32" I would have taken that so it's more about the looks and functionality. Also I thought second one is bit harder to clean on edges.

What size is your sink base? If your sink base is 33", then the 30" sink is just right for it. If it's 36", then it's bigger than necessary and space you might rather use in adjacent cabinets.

Mostly what I think is that if you were attracted to the first one for decor reasons, then that is what you should do. I agree that 30" vs 32" is probably not critical. It may have been me that said that the 32", which I have and love, doesn't drain as well as it might, but that is in comparison to my old sink which had a steeper slope. That slope made me crazy because the Kitchen Aid Mixer bowl wouldn't stand up on that slope and dumped the bowl over every time I used it. The Kraus comes with a sink grid which would negate the falling over factor, but in any case the bottom isn't sloped so steeply that it would be a problem. I liked the steeper slope for more vigorous drainage, but the shallower slope of the the 32" Kraus drains just fine, just not so - vigorously.

I don't know anything about Kraus ss products. I do know that 16 gauge is stronger than 18, 20... When I searched for your particular sink, I came up with this site that has it listed at $455 (see link below). The ss 16 gauge sink that I bought online is close to the same size as the Kraus one, but a couple inches smaller. Mine is a Linea Aqua Vienna - inside bowl dimensions are 28"x16"x9". I paid $238. My sink has the type of corners that are a bit more rounded & also has the drain in the center. Here is a link that might be useful: Kraus sink

I installed a Kraus Kraus KHT410-33 Standart Pro sink earlier this summer. (late June) Be aware that this^^ is an 18 gauge sink. I thought it was 16 gauge when I bought it (and was advertised as 16 gauge). Discovered that it was 18 gauge after I ordered it and before it was delivered. So I was fully prepared to send it back. Long story short--it is a great sink. Solid, well made, arrived in flawless condition (great packaging.) So, we went ahead & installed it and I have been really, really happy with it ever since. I, too, had felt that 16 gauge was a must but have changed my mind about that, least ways with the particular sink that I bought.

"When you sandwich the sink rim between the heavy counter material and the cabinet side there's zero extra space if the cabinet side tops are all installed level. No possiblity of any space opening in the future.." Good theory, little real-world relevance. First, the sink flange would have to be rabbeted into the cabinet tops perfectly flush. Secondly, tops aren't the exact same thickness throughout and nearly all have to be shimmed somewhat. That means there will be a gap the thickness of the shims between the sink flange and stone bottom. That means an uneven silicone joint and on the recommended slight positive reveal that won't look good. When a sink is pushed against a stone bottom by straps, the gap is tight and consistent no matter what the shims are doing. Furthermore, if the sink ever has to be replaced, it's now much more difficult because the cabinet sides have to be unzipped to get the sink out and reinstalled to get the new sink in. A strapped sink is replaced in little over an hour by backing off two bolts. Using cabinet tops to support sinks is not good practice.

When I was looking for my sink, I heard from many to avoid sinks with zero radius corners due to the tendency for debris to get stuck in the corners. I was also advised that I needed to consider the degree of slope towards the drain and its relationship to the drainage of debris.

check the interior dimensions. All things being equal, the 2 inches is not a big deal.

I have the 30 inch Kraus, from Overstock. It is ample. I really like the grid more than I anticipated. And yes, it does not drain vigorously, but it is way more than fine for me. I don't have a prep sink.

Thanks both of you. I feel better now. We have a cabinet size of 33". We could have done both the 30 and the 32 in the same size.
