Please make my decision for me... single or double sink
Comments (40)My sink is the Ticor S405D and fits in a 36" sink base with no modifications. However, most of my cabinets, including the sink base, have 1/2" walls, not 3/4", so that may be why no mods were necessary. Others have had to modify their 36" sink bases by scribing the sides a bit, but it wasn't a big deal (at least that's what they said). We also prefer a double-bowl...and we also have a prep sink! Based on Shelly_K's description of how she works & uses a sink, I think she will be happier with a double-bowl sink. Here's a pic: And the specs... Dimensions: Overall: 35-1/8" x 20-7/8" x 9" Large Bowl: 21-3/8" x 18-3/4" x 9" Small Bowl: 10-1/2" x 15-7/8" x 7" It's a 70/30 sink. We went from equal-sized bowls in our old kitchen, which we hated, to this, which my DH, in particular loves (he does most of the cleanup). He thinks the sink is one of the best things about our new kitchen. My largest cookie sheets, roasting pan, and refrigerator shelves & bins all fit in the large bowl. I understand that some people have very large pans, cookie sheets, etc. and may need a bigger bowl, but it really depends on what you have/need, not what others have/need....See More$ 70 Blanco Performa Silgranit II 1.75 Free shipping
Comments (40)Well ladies, the too good to be true price really was too good to be true. My shipment arrived today. A flat package that weighed 2 lbs. Yeah, it's a Blanco stainless steel 2.0 sink grid. This grid wouldn't even fit the 1.75 sink I ordered. Anyway, I immediately called and, although they were very nice, the bottom line is they offered me the $460 something sink for about $350 claiming that was the wholesale, zero profit margin, price for them. I said no thank you. They are processing a full refund and told me I can keep the sink grid to not have to go to the hassle of returning it. The customer service rep tried to be helpful, and when I questioned why they wouldn't honor their price, she sent me over to a customer service manager. He was also very nice, but wouldn't sell me the sink for $70. I'm not too upset as the sink was for our basement remodel that we haven't even started yet. I jumped on the price because it was an amazing deal. My first purchase from Wayfair. Browsing through their website, I think their prices are more expensive than other places on the web, so I probably won't make any other purchases there. For all of you who ordered the sink, be prepared to call and get a refund, because you won't be getting a sink. And if by some chance someone DOES get a sink, please let us all know so we can get the same deal. Thanks MMM for telling us about it. No hard feelings there - I was happy to try for the deal!...See MoreAfter struggling with Maytag Neptune, Would the Performa be OK?
Comments (11)SM123-The bubbles I see are just light not thick around the door. I have had the thick ones too before with some rugs one time. Iuse All Free Clear HE. I have used the Charlies Soap too and like it real well but then some stains don;t come out but then they don;t come out with other stuff either. If you have any build up on your tub from detergent the CS will get that off. When I got the CS I did the wash with the few old rags like they say do. You couldn't even hear it tumble. I opened it and there were MOUNDS of soap suds in there. I called CS and he said that was all the built up detergent on the tub over the years. He said after it finished run another load the same way and see if it wasnt better. It soaped like crazy too but not as bad as the first time. Then after that I started having no soap in my clothes. I us it ever so often now just to keep my machine clean. I usually use the 4th rinse on mine with the All. I think what makes the suds is in the 3rd rinse the machine does a "tumble flush" to clean the tub of suds so they are then in the rinse. This is where you see those from in the boot. Someone else on here tried the Biokleen(I did too) but he had a lot of mold problems that he said he had never had using all the other stuff so he changed back. For me it was ok but it wasnt the best cleaning I had ever used. You should try the CS and see what you think. It might work for you and Yes with it all you use is 1 Tablespoon. As for the Performa, go for it. Maybe you will get your money out of it besides if something does happen to it you might can get it fixed cheaply. I think you would really be happier with a reg. washer since you like the natural cleaners. Maybe sell your Neptune and get you a new Speed Queen while they are still making top load that use a tub full of water.JMO. Open your washer during the 2nd rinse sometimes and see how much suds is there, then check the 3rd rinse after the TFlush and see if there is more there than in the 2nd rinse. Just curious....See MoreInstalling a granite double sink with garbage disposal
Comments (8)I got the sink installed, it took longer then I thought it would. Getting the old one out was a piece of cake. The granite double bowl sink fit perfectly but mounting clips were a nightmare. I thought I could use the one I had taken off the old sink but plastic portion had crack. I got new ones but they didn't work neither did any of the mounting clips I bought. After wasting a day on this I finally called Swanstone and they sent me the ones I needed. I had been told that most people don't even bother with them, they just use the silicone to keep in place. I had put the silicone on first as instructed so it was already sealed by the end of the first day. I tried to use the clips that Swanstone sent me but after spending 45 minutes on one clip. I ended up using the silicone on the underside to make sure there were no leaks from the counter. Day two, I finished hooking up the lines and trying to seal the basket strainer drain and disposal flange. You'll not allowed to use plumber putty on anything just silicone which does take time to dry. Not being the patient type, tried to rush the process and ended up having to the whole thing over. Day 3 was hooking up the garbage disposal and the rest of the pvc plumbing parts. I can't tell the number of trips I made to the hardware store for parts and to have some of those parts cut for me because I suck at it. The last headache was the p trap that kept sliding down when it filled with water. I thought I got it until I ran the dishwasher and it leaked again. So I used teflon tape and really tighten it, so far so good. I did get a waste king garbage disposal that didn't work with the nice disposal flange I had gotten because it was an ez mount and not a 3 bolt that I had expected. Thank goodness, I found this out before I had bother to install the sink or it would have been a really big mess. I did have to replace the Opella with Trim to the Trade but it turned out much nicer. For the main sink, I got a commercial grade oil rubbed bronze sink strainer drain....See More- 6 years ago
