All you people are out of your minds. Heck i like you guys. I grew about 200 seedlings this spring and had a styrofoam cup, and 16 ounce solo cup village this early summer. That 200 was just peppers. I germinated probably another 400-600 plants of various natures too. Needless to say i had to give away alot of them seedlings to friends and family members, cause i only have limited grow space outside and its a heavily wooded area of large oaks and such, so only certain sections of the yard get adequate sunlight. I too live in a one bedroom apartment, im thankful the landlord lets me use the yard space to grow stuff. We are pretty good friends now. He aint much for getting out there and getting his thumbs green, or maybe he just lets me do all the work cause he knows how much i enjoy it, but he sure does love the veggies. Plenty to go around. Ya know if im still here for next year, ill do the same darn thing!

I've only been growing a year or so and know far less than the above posters but my opinion is that starting with an echieveria would be fine, maybe a couple others. Not to be flippant, but if it dies, you've learned something. I think you'll be fine because you are informing yourself. Your south windows will be best, could even be too much sun I'm in Southern California and my succulents prefer morning and afternoon sun, shaded mid day. I can't imagine you would need grow lights. Wouldn't south facing be full sun? You will need to repot the succulents when you get them home. You could use the pots they come in unless you get those tiny ones (2"?) ----or purchase new but don't put them in a much bigger pots thinking they will grow faster or better. I prefer clay but plastic works too. potting medium--get a bag of commercial cactus and succulent mix and a bag of Perlite or preferably pumice. Rinse the smaller particles out of the perlite by running water through it in a strainer. Don't breathe it. Mix 50/50 and that's your potting mix. Gently get as much of the existing soil off your new plant as possible and repot in the new faster draining mix. Don't pot too low in the pot, don't water for a few days. Bright light no direct sun during that time. When you do water, let the water run out the drain hole. Don't let your plants sit in standing water. Some people like double pots; I don't. Transition them slowly into your full sun over a period of days. If you get haworthias, they need less sun than echies. if you think you might post here more often, go to the usda website and get your gardening zone number and add it in with your name. Can you slowly transition it into some sun each day outside? Not sure of your zone, but morning sun is gentle and plants like it, or dappled sun would be good too. I stress transition, because they can sunburn if moved suddenly to full sun. They will thrive with better light. Although it's good to keep them shaded after transplanting as you have done. Not sure which one is the one with the fat leaves. Echeverias often lose their bottom leaves. Just let them dry up and remove when it's easy to do so. (no yanking) Your grouping looks very nice to me. I would caution you about overwatering since there is a lot of soil there. If you don't know the skewer test to decide when to water, insert a wooden skewer into the soil, wait a while, pull it out to see if it is damp or damp soil particles stick to it. If damp, don't water. If not damp, use your own judgment, wait a day or two or water if weather is pretty hot for them. (I've heard of people using a wooden pencil for this, but a skewer is better because it's thinner. Toothpicks work too but probably too short for your pot.)

Different types of succulents require dfferent types of care :-) Some want more water; some want less and some want virtually none at all in winter. Light requirements vary as well but most want bright but indirect light and as much as they can get. That's why most growers of succulents do not like 'arrangements' or groupings of various succulents and will separate them into individual containers almost immediately. And many times they are planted and sold in a potting mix that is too moisture retentive. Without seeing the arrangement (photos?) or knowing what succulents it contains, it is impossible to be more specific.
