Growing Succulents inside Apartment

New to succulents and wanting to give it a try within my Apartment, I am located in Dallas TX. From my understanding, in the northern hemisphere, North or South facing windows are ideal for light for indoor plants which fortunately my apartment has. I know the planter should ideally contain drainage holes and not the glass type that I commonly see online. I am wanting to start small and have a few questions.

Are there particular succulents I should consider given the environment they will grow in? The type that I was going to try first was a rosette Echeveria.

When it comes to lighting, how do I know if I get enough natural light to support succulents inside - just observe the leaves and see if they start bending towards the light or look droopy? Should I get a grow light even if natural light is adequate? Also what type of grow lights are recommended here?

Thanks in advance.
