Gray walls look like baby blue
Comments (7)Colors are always more intense once you paint a whole room, as the walls and ceiling reflect the same color back onto each other. What color is your ceiling? That will make a big difference. Also, an empty room will allow the walls to reflect the color back onto each other, and so once you add furnishings, those will absorb some of the color and it may look less intense, depending on the colors of what you add. Adding drapes will help. If you add more blue to the room, it will only make the walls look more blue, unless it is a very dark blue. If you add a neutral gray, it will look slightly blue because that is the color that the walls will reflect onto it. Black would absorb some of the color - light colors will reflect it. A complementary color (such as orange) will also make it look more intense by contrast, My recommendation would be to add some navy blue accents to the room, providing you like navy blue. Low light also helps, as Tibbix says, but also the color temperature of the light bulbs you use will make a big difference at night. If you use warm light, the blue will be less intense, but that will not help during the day. You could add beige sheers to your windows to make daylight a bit more warm. Comments (8)A house with wood floors and white trim can use almost any wall color. The only piece of the puzzle I can't see are the 'white granite' counters you mention. I wouldn't select paint color until you have at least a sample of the counter, and the backsplash to go with it. There are many whites and some will look better with your materials than others. Many people (and even some designers) try to put warm whites like White Dove with everything, but they don't look that good with blue-grays like Carrara. But as far as Light French Gray, it can lean blue in some lighting conditions. Whatever you consider, you'll want to try large sample areas on the wall before you decide. Another thing, if you haven't already - I'd remove all those window treatments (esp in kitchen) to let in as much light as possible. Consider roller shades or cell shades instead, things that can mostly be all the way up or down as needed. Avoid plantation shutters, their frames block 30% of the light, even when tilted open. Place a couple mirrors opposite a window to reflect more light in to the space. If the wiring is easily accessible, you might add a few can lights to the kitchen ceiling....See MoreHelp! Comments (64)LFG can give off a purple-blue undertone in certain lighting. Just had it done and it was mixed correctly. I had our bedroom painted with it and in natural light, with sun, it is the beautiful gray most of love. In the evening, and with artificial light, it does put off those blue tones but for me, in a bedroom, it’s not offensive. I’m trying to look at it with an open mind and the important thing for me is it still feels soothing and fresh. We tried about 6 different grays on our walls (tan to start)... Analytical gray was too mocha, Chelsea gray was nice but a little too cement for a whole room. The key to make it pop was painting the ceiling Ceiling Bright White and we will do the trim and baseboards either in Alabaster or High Reflective White....See MoreLooking for very very light grey blue wall color for entire condo
