Gray walls look light blue
Comments (21)Gray Screen belongs to the blue-green hue family. Specifically, it lives in the blue-green hue family over towards the blue hue family. It has a notation of 6.40 BG which tells us that Gray Screen is closer to blue than it is to green and that's how we know to expect blue overtones. There's nothing hidden or under anything. No visual gymnastics required when you have a color notation. It looks blueish because that's exactly what it is - what you're seeing, what has happened with the color in your space has absolutely nothing to do with undertones. The fact that it does look blueish in your space means you have a relatively balanced quality of light to work with. Which is a good thing. What colors can i incorporate to make the walls appear less blue? Any color from the same hue family neighborhood will make the wall color look less blue and more gray. Especially colors that have more chroma, are more colorful, have more saturation than Gray Screen. Any color from any other hue family will make Gray Screen look more blue. The farther away the hue family is from 6.40 blue-green, the more it will intensify the blueness. For example, you don't want to use red. To get the color you were going for, you'd have to look at near neutral grays that belong to the yellow/green-yellow hue family neighborhood....See MoreGrey paint turned baby blue! Help!
Comments (2)If the natural light entering this room comes from the north it will tint pale colors blue. Daylight bulbs give off blue light too. You can't do anything about natural light, but you can switch out bulbs with a color temperature of 6000K or higher with warm white bulbs that have a color temperature below 3000K and give off a yellowish light. The color temperature number should be either on the package or the bulb. Your problem illustrates why it is recommended one buy a sample of the preferred color and try it on at least two walls for several days before committing to the entire job. The color of paint chips can be influenced by the lighting in the store, and they are just so small. The online virtual paint programs show neutral lighting, plus your monitor can produce variations in color. Even a large expanse of lawn can affect pale tones....See MoreHELP!!! Comments (7)I think he just tinted primer for better coverage since it was going over gold. Maybe he was going to try and only have to do 1 coat plus tinted primer, but he is going to do 2 coats. Benjamin Moore said that tinted primer may show more blue then the regular paint so I am hoping that gets rid of some of the undertone ice blue that I am seeing. I did put the original sample board next to the paint and it does match up. Good news is that when I put my white cabinet door next to the paint on walls, it gets rid of that blue tone. I am thinking that maybe my old dove white trim is working against the paint and it will be fine when the brighter white trim goes up. Here are the photos: Also do you think Calcutta Gold Quartz will work? It seemed like it also worked when I put it near paint....See MoreHow can you make a baby blue bedroom look less blue?
