Went to my first Society Sale Saturday . . .
Comments (8)I went to the MTDS sale last fall and had a blast--very different, because I barely could make it, very late and they were just starting to take down tables. Since I had about nothing, and didn't know enough to have a wish list, it was great! All the prices were dropped, and things were stuck in my bags for free, just to be nice (and who wants to replant a daylily they just dug?) The people were tired, but still impressively nice. I recall one man in particular who asked me what I was after, and I said "Pink ones." He looked a bit blank just for a second, probably taken aback by such encyclopedic specificity, but then he was game as anything and pointed out about about a dozen recommendations. I paniced a bit, since I wanted to be quick, and called my father for help--some help he turned out to be! LOL! I had to go around and tell him everything left since he *did* have a wish list. It was such a fun day!...See MoreMy first M Gardener Plant Sale
Comments (3)Legally the land belongs to someone. Even on the roadside, where an easement exists to some local govt., there is still an owner. So, legally, you would be trespassing if nothing else. Morally and ethically, you will have to decide if you know that the plants will be mowed down or even removed if the road is widened or the hwy. dept. decides to clean ditches, etc. When aware of one of the previous conditions, I have been known to "rescue" some plants, but I try to get permission. It would be better, in my opinion, for you to ask whoever lives around that site if you can dig a few columbines...or whatever plant is growing there that you want. Most people are happy to share. Developers, however, are another matter. BTW, most native plant organizations are opposed to taking from the wild UNLESS the site will be destroyed....See MoreMy First Show of the Season
Comments (7)I'm still exhausted!! Show went really well. Sold only about $150, but for a Spring Festival which included everything from fire truck rides and kiddie rides and games to local politicians I think it was a good day. Not a ton of crafts but it was basically in my back yard so no travel expenses for sure. Add in the fact that I'm still recovering from a car accident in Nov. and "female" surgery only a week ago, the pain that I'm experiencing right now I did really well, IMO. LOL Thank God I bought a tent! And thank God the weather held out. They said it was gonna rain all day, it was sunny all day till about 3pm when we all started packing up. Didn't really rain until last night. We lucked out with that one! Glad everyone's weekend was good! I've got a few weeks till my next show on the 15th of May. Now back to the grind! Have a great week everyone!...See MoreMy First eBay Sale - Hope to declutter more!
Comments (4)I too have been trying to declutter and sell some things on e-bay. I have only listed about 6 things at a time. As I list them I put them in a rubbermaid tote set aside so there will be no confusion what has been listed. I have so many professional clothes that I no longer wear it seems silly to keep them in my tooo full closet. I have started my items out at a very low price, I really just want them out of here and make a little in the deal! One thing my post office said was to order the shipping things from usps.com and I have done that, its great to have the boxes here to package the items. Lotsa luck to you...
