How fun! Sounds like you had a great time, but need to teach the Hubby to be what my BF calls a "blocker". He runs interference for me in front, I duck my head and follow! LOL Next year you'll get that Banned in Boston! Sounds like you got great deals! You'll have to post some picture of those new babies next year!

Actually, hubby was too busy adding DLs to the box to block for me! I almost got clothes-lined by a tiny elderly lady who had to have the last bag of something. ;)

It was great fun! I overheard someone saying it was their biggest sale yet. Melanie Mason had given some of her unnamed seedlings and some very nice newer intros for the sale. We went up to her farm the first week of August - man, she's got some gorgeous new intros!

One of these days I'll figure out how to post online - maybe by the time these bloom!

Sounds like great fun. I can't wait for our sale next month. It will be my first time going and I'm hoping to meet a lot of other DL growers in my area to ask lots of questions and come home with lots of new babies.

KCC - sounds like the hubby is an addict too! If you want to post pictures... it is really easy.
1) Get a photobucket (www.photobucket.com) account - it's free.
2) On your computer, resize your images to 600x800 pixels max - any photo program can do this for you.
3) Click "upload photos" in your photobucket account.
4) There are four choices below each picture that you uploaded - put your cursor over the one that says "HTML Tag". It will automatically copy the info that you need.
5) Come here and use "Paste" into the Message box.

Voila! Images posted!

One notation on the pic posting. In your message you are posting the "picture"shows as the html code until you click to preview the message.Also,if you remove the picture from Photobucket,it can no longer be seen in the message.

I went to the MTDS sale last fall and had a blast--very different, because I barely could make it, very late and they were just starting to take down tables. Since I had about nothing, and didn't know enough to have a wish list, it was great! All the prices were dropped, and things were stuck in my bags for free, just to be nice (and who wants to replant a daylily they just dug?)

The people were tired, but still impressively nice. I recall one man in particular who asked me what I was after, and I said "Pink ones." He looked a bit blank just for a second, probably taken aback by such encyclopedic specificity, but then he was game as anything and pointed out about about a dozen recommendations. I paniced a bit, since I wanted to be quick, and called my father for help--some help he turned out to be! LOL! I had to go around and tell him everything left since he *did* have a wish list. It was such a fun day!

Hmmm...is there 'insider information' that you can get ahold of?
Is there opportunity as a member to set some aside for purchase the day of the sale?
Did others have some distinct advantage that you weren't aware of?
Or was it merely a free-for-all with no rhyme or reason, people just taking what they could get their hands on, and it was luck-of-the-draw if you landed at a table that had items you actually wanted?

MM, very much the latter! A total free-for-all - next time I'll wear a helmet! I would imagine members trade among themselves without resorting to fisticuffs! Actually, everyone was very nice and super-polite. If anything, some of them were almost too helpfull - I guess that's a danger when dealing with passionate people!

Everything was set up very nicely. They organized by color and set aside some of the specials - doubles and spotted ones, mostly. I managed to get one named Speckles (I'm a collector of oddities of many kinds!) and a double named Bubbly.
