Help, Please with Apple Mini iPad

I have a grocery app that I depend on very heavily. Last night, my little iPad updated to the IOS 11. Now my grocery app will not work; I checked with the company and was advised that they are working on an update, but it might be a while before it is ready for distribution. I have tried all of the options I have found by Googling to remove the new update. However, the instructions are say to go to go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage. Step 3: Locate the iOS software download in the list and tap on it. Step 4: Select Delete Update, and confirm you do want to delete it. But, when I go to Settings > General , there is not Storage & iCloud Usage shown only "iPad Storage" and that doesn't give me an option about the iOS at all.

Can any of you advise if there is another way to get this darned update off the iPad, please. Thank you.

In the Apple ecosystem, other than company-specific ones, there are usually many different apps available from different sources for any given task or function. Did you look in the app store to see if there was something similar from a different source you could use?

Apple gives developers plenty of advance notice and tools when IOS changes cause incompatibilities. The fact that this one is not current (when so many others are) suggests that finding another source may be a good thing to do anyway.

Thank you. I have looked at other apps and none are satisfactory to me. The one I have been using is so very versatile and meets so many of my needs, which none of the others do. I am not quite as desperate as I was for I decided to look at my iPad Air and I have the great program on it. So will be using that one - even though the iPad mini is more convenient.

I’m here in the Pac NW too. I began buying/ pot planting fruit trees about 7 years ago, using the pot up method. I usually buy 2 new fruit trees each year. Switched over to Smart-pots / Air Pots 3 seasons ago for my new purchases. The air pots/smart pots have worked out 150% better than regular/old school potting. The rooting/root ball issue doesn’t occur in air pots. Also, it self prunes and keeps my tree sizes in check. I can’t be trying to bring in certain trees in the winter if they have grow to 8‘ , 10’ , plus. If you are ok with full size maturity than fine. But in my situation, I want to be able to harvest fruit easily (low hanging) and basic maintenance is easier done with a smaller dwarf tree that has been kept in check. Btw, my dwarf fuji & dwarf honeycrisp apple trees were switched over to air pots and they fit under the roof overhang. By keeping them in the air pots and by pruning the main stem during dormancy period, I keep them under 8’ and they can get protected from too much rain and frost through the winter. My dwarf meyer lemon tree is only in a 3 gallon smart pot. I can easily move it into my house in late fall. If I had gone the pot up method, I would’ve eventually had to move a pretty heavy pot into the house. I bought a Leprechaun Dwarf Nectarine tree 3 years ago that is frost tolerant so that sits outside all year, here in the Pac NW. It sits in a 20 liter air pot which I think is slightly larger than a Home Depot orange bucket. Since it self prunes/roots, I‘ve never had to do anything. I do basic branch pruning after harvest and I get boatloads of nectarines that I usually give away half of what I harvest away. When it comes to Dwarf Fruit trees, IMHO, air pots/smart pots are the only way to go. Now with my vegetables garden, other than my kratky portion of my plants, the rest I do use the root pouches too and they work great. IMHO, since veggies are seasonal and I grow a lot, the root pouches are a perfect way to go, but for fruit trees since most people aren’t buying a ton of trees, spend a few bucks for a few air pots / smart pots, i think is the better route to go. iPad Pro and pencil anyone?

Rockybird, I am using the smart keyboard as my only cover. It is so similar to the covers that I have for my other iPads so it works quite well. I have fingerprints on all of them not matter what I do. They are fingerprint magnets. I do have the screen protectors but I don't really notice that it makes the screen less prone to finger or bird prints (HaHa). It would be great if your bird's prints would show up on one of the sketching apps, what a fun screen saver that would be! Awm, I haven't tried that but it sounds like fun. You really can and will learn to sketch. I am pulling for you. A few tips. Get yourself a spiral bound sketch book and pencils. My favorite sketch pad is Strathmore drawing paper in the 6 x 8 size. Stick with the smaller size as it isn't as intimidating having a small area to cover when you are starting to sketch. My favorite pencils are Faber-Castell 9000 jumbo pencils. They come in a five pack and includes HB ( I use this one the most), 2B, 4B, 6B, and 8B. Also a very good eraser. Watch some how to draw videos on youtube and invest in some drawing how to books. You really don't necessarily even need to invest in books at first and the few items that I suggested won't run more than thirty dollars or so on Amazon. Tablet sketching is great but you should practice some skills with real paper and pencil. Drawing is really more about seeing than anything. Really look at what it is that you are drawing and think about what shape something is rather than what it actually is. Practice every day and date each drawing so that you can go back and see how you are progressing. Believe me, if you practice and put time into it you can draw! If you decide to pursue books the two I recommend is Drawing on The Right Side of The Brain by Betty Edwards and Keys to Drawing by Bert Dodson. The huge advantage though to any type of e tablet is you can trash a page without wasting paper and it's great because you don't have a big investment in paints, canvases, and supplies until you are ready to move on. I am wondering how much better an iPad can get. I am so amazed at how far we've come in regards to technology. Our first computer was an IBM with a dos operating system that DH used when he wanted to connect with the company he worked for. The connection was via modem. Remember the horrible noise that used to make? It also amazes me at how little really wonderful apps cost. I remember Adobe Illustrator being hugely expensive. Way too much to spend on just one program.

Yes, I cleared everything, and restarted, several times. I've researched and researched Apple forums and such, and don't see anything even near this issue. It's so bizarre! It doesn't seem to be affecting anything, but I'd still like it gone.

Oh yeah, if I lived closer to the Apple store, I'd already have one.. and a MacBook air! (Though I am not a fan of the PC store.. OK, so the things that start sucking up space are Movies (HD especially), photos/videos, and certain video intensive games. Other files take up space but text files are pretty darn small. Maybe I sound like a cheapskate, but I can buy (and have) a 1 Terabyte passport for less than the price diff between the 64GB ipad air 2 and the 128GB. Given the low cost of storage, the price diff between the models is ridiculous. I am a very casual gamer. I am not recording music with Garage Band or any of the other music composition apps. Other than scrabble, I might play 1-2 games a year. I won't use the camera extensively and when I do, I won't store photos on the ipad. I think the 64GB will be fine. I actually think the 16GB will be fine but I'll go 64. :) Thanks so much everyone!!

what is a grocery app? my dont consume food at a constant rate. i run out at various times. i never buy multiple quantities of items that i might run out of. never had a pantry to stock. does your app somehow find online deals for items you eat?

Just be aware that the clock is ticking on that application. If you delay an iOS update you eventually will find other app updates are no longer available to you and -- worse -- eventually security updates will no longer be made for your version of the operating system, leaving you exposed to ... well, going unprotected is never a good idea.

As Elmer mentioned, Apple told developers long ago that they needed to update their apps. That this has not been a priority for so long for the developer of this app indicates that you may never see the promised upgrade. I'd take Elmer's advice to go shopping for a new shopping app -- or some other kind of database/list/to-do app that might fill in for it.

Thanks once again. The app is not just a grocery app, it is a list app. I have multiple lists in the app. For example, itineraries, packing lists for various climates, wonderful, thorough lists for both spirits and wine, gifts, sizes of various people, makeup, books to read, movies to watch, wineries to visit, a variety of stores (both grocery and clothing), Thanksgiving timelines for getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner and one for Christmas and one for New Year's, to-do lists, over-the-counter medications, prescription medications and numbers info, recipes, etc. You get the picture. This is a wonderful resource and I have looked over the years trying to find one that is as productive as it, but to no avail. The company has just recently promised to update the app to the iOs 11. I hope the wait is not too long. And their faithful users have been begging them for months to please get this updated. The company has other apps that I guess are more profitable to them, so they have been concentrating on those. I think the outcry has been so genuine about this failure that the company has become embarrassed to the point of agreeing to update. I have used the app since the Palm was the thing. They used to update all the time, but then something changed. Hope they are getting back on the right, correct track now. I do appreciate the support of all of you.
