Help, Please with Apple Mini iPad

I have a grocery app that I depend on very heavily. Last night, my little iPad updated to the IOS 11. Now my grocery app will not work; I checked with the company and was advised that they are working on an update, but it might be a while before it is ready for distribution. I have tried all of the options I have found by Googling to remove the new update. However, the instructions are say to go to go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage. Step 3: Locate the iOS software download in the list and tap on it. Step 4: Select Delete Update, and confirm you do want to delete it. But, when I go to Settings > General , there is not Storage & iCloud Usage shown only "iPad Storage" and that doesn't give me an option about the iOS at all.

Can any of you advise if there is another way to get this darned update off the iPad, please. Thank you.

In the Apple ecosystem, other than company-specific ones, there are usually many different apps available from different sources for any given task or function. Did you look in the app store to see if there was something similar from a different source you could use?

Apple gives developers plenty of advance notice and tools when IOS changes cause incompatibilities. The fact that this one is not current (when so many others are) suggests that finding another source may be a good thing to do anyway.

Thank you. I have looked at other apps and none are satisfactory to me. The one I have been using is so very versatile and meets so many of my needs, which none of the others do. I am not quite as desperate as I was for I decided to look at my iPad Air and I have the great program on it. So will be using that one - even though the iPad mini is more convenient.

I found the Blackberry very straight forward. You could be reading your mail, click a link and read the web page and return to your mail without having to close the web page and return to the home screen. The I phone does not have a back button which I find so frustrating. My son has an Android and I find it more comfortable to use. It does have a back button. I like the screen better, seems clearer/sharper than Iphone. Iphone brags about their retina display. Sons, Samsung is brighter and colors seem better. Iphone is a data hog. You must remember to constantly close programs or they continue to run. There is no 'xing' off anything. You have to leave a page by returning to the home screen. There are so many things I dislike about the Iphone I won't bother taking the time to list. My guess is, if Iphone is your first smart phone, you'll love it because it's all you know. I also think it is appealing to younger people because of the Apple status symbol. Blackberrys were more 'business' orientated. They operated more like a computer. You could work from multiple screens and pages. Can't do that with the Iphone. Snidely, I've been following Blackberry over the past year hoping the company would come out with a new phone. I thought it was going under. I hoped Microsoft might buy them out. Now it seems they will release their new phone in the next few weeks. The tech reviews were very good. Blackberry will not have a physical keyboard but the testers report loving how well their new touch keypads work. The reports loved the ability to have multiple windows working at once without losing your place. I know many professional people who gave up on Blackberry and upgraded to Iphones. Not one of them thinks Iphone is better than their old phones. Many state they might switch back and are waiting for the release. If I can't get a Blackberry, I'd get an Android. I find the kindle fire much too heavy to read on and I have the smaller one. I also do not like the way pages turn. You cannot read one handed as you can w/ the regular kindle (at least I can't) and you have to touch the screen which I find distracting, not as reliable and I need to worry that my hands aren't wet or don't have popcorn butter on them, which is not an issue with my regular kindle. I also REALLY don't like the bright colored screen when reading on it. It is like reading on a computer and I prefer to feel more like I am reading a real book, not a computer screen (I look at computer screens all day for work). With my regular kindle, I can use it outside or to read in the tub and this would not be possible at all with a kindle fire. I can forget that I am on a device and feel like I am just reading a book. I don't get that w/ the Kindle Fire. A basic kindle (not touch- I hate the touch and got rid of my Kindle touch) can be had pre-owned for like $35-$40 from cowboom. I would definitely just pick one of those up to read on and not try to read on either the fire or ipad, whichever you decide to get. I've bought two kindles from here already because I want to have one in each of our houses and they've both been in good condition. I've also dropped my regular kindle MULTIPLE times (onto concrete, and falling off a hammock onto a flagstone patio when my dog jumped onto the hammock) and the kindle is none-the-worse for the wear. Ha!, no teen in that gals house, I was sure I was doing things right, then, I just told her this would be the last I would do, cuz I had eliminated everything else, and she told me she was home and on the regular computer, I could have reached thru the screen and strangled her. she also commented she only knew gmail, and I told her I used FF, chrome, and IE as browsers, and then she "discovered" Ff on the machine! I felt I got suckered into a dilemma, and hope I never run across something like that again. As you said, I do not believe she knows how to operate her device, only the simplest things maybe?, and also that she doesn't know the capabilities of it either. I am not a geek, but I have done a few attachments, etc., in my life. I hope with all of this, she now can work her devices as a regular person. Thank you so much for listening to my vent, and first off, thank you for your words, I appreciate that you took the time to read, and decipher what I was trying to accomplish. so nice to have folks that are genuine, and I do not think this one was, only somewhat selfish it seems to me. Oh yeah, if I lived closer to the Apple store, I'd already have one.. and a MacBook air! (Though I am not a fan of the PC store.. OK, so the things that start sucking up space are Movies (HD especially), photos/videos, and certain video intensive games. Other files take up space but text files are pretty darn small. Maybe I sound like a cheapskate, but I can buy (and have) a 1 Terabyte passport for less than the price diff between the 64GB ipad air 2 and the 128GB. Given the low cost of storage, the price diff between the models is ridiculous. I am a very casual gamer. I am not recording music with Garage Band or any of the other music composition apps. Other than scrabble, I might play 1-2 games a year. I won't use the camera extensively and when I do, I won't store photos on the ipad. I think the 64GB will be fine. I actually think the 16GB will be fine but I'll go 64. :) Thanks so much everyone!!

what is a grocery app? my dont consume food at a constant rate. i run out at various times. i never buy multiple quantities of items that i might run out of. never had a pantry to stock. does your app somehow find online deals for items you eat?

Just be aware that the clock is ticking on that application. If you delay an iOS update you eventually will find other app updates are no longer available to you and -- worse -- eventually security updates will no longer be made for your version of the operating system, leaving you exposed to ... well, going unprotected is never a good idea.

As Elmer mentioned, Apple told developers long ago that they needed to update their apps. That this has not been a priority for so long for the developer of this app indicates that you may never see the promised upgrade. I'd take Elmer's advice to go shopping for a new shopping app -- or some other kind of database/list/to-do app that might fill in for it.

Thanks once again. The app is not just a grocery app, it is a list app. I have multiple lists in the app. For example, itineraries, packing lists for various climates, wonderful, thorough lists for both spirits and wine, gifts, sizes of various people, makeup, books to read, movies to watch, wineries to visit, a variety of stores (both grocery and clothing), Thanksgiving timelines for getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner and one for Christmas and one for New Year's, to-do lists, over-the-counter medications, prescription medications and numbers info, recipes, etc. You get the picture. This is a wonderful resource and I have looked over the years trying to find one that is as productive as it, but to no avail. The company has just recently promised to update the app to the iOs 11. I hope the wait is not too long. And their faithful users have been begging them for months to please get this updated. The company has other apps that I guess are more profitable to them, so they have been concentrating on those. I think the outcry has been so genuine about this failure that the company has become embarrassed to the point of agreeing to update. I have used the app since the Palm was the thing. They used to update all the time, but then something changed. Hope they are getting back on the right, correct track now. I do appreciate the support of all of you.
